Here is a small project I'm working on. My son had a broken Hammerhead he donated to me and I thought what better way than make a comody Looted Wagon out of it. It would certainly annoy the Tau immensely which the Orks would find hilarious :-)

WIP at the moment but I hope to just make a good gaming piece out of it. The track are from a very cheap toy tank and yes I know they look rubbish at the moment.

Any thoughts on this? Funny idea? Heresy? Waste of time?

Nice - I dig the long set of treads on it - can't wait to see how this bad boy turns out.

It's got nice lines for a start, but it doesn't really look looted yet. It looks like a Hammerhead with tracks on it. I like the look of damage that you've put into it, but aside from the missing engine it doesn't look like it's taken enough damage to be lootable in that picture.

My advice:
1) More evidence of Ork repairs, like replaced panels and attempts to rebuild systems with non-Tau parts (I think something could be done with the forward vents on the body next to the pilot's compartment.)
2) More bits integrating the body with the tracks.
3) Some changes to the forward drone-like heavy weapon pods.
4) The side doors are the most awesome bits of the Tau tank chassis, because they expose inner workings and demonstrate the Tau design so well. Change them. First because where they're placed on your tank, no one could use them when the tank is in motion. Secondly, I can see Orks wanting to open them and shoot out of them. You've got a wonderful chance to orkify your tank there.

You've got a great start there, but I think you aren't pushing this nearly as much as you could be. Break out your knife and plasticard and go wild!

hey, check out the two threads of mine about geekin out in seattle, and see my 2 looted def dreds and my looted kans.... more randomly riveted/welded on plates and some glyphs, etc. andmore dakka couldn't hurt

Good star. That's what I like about orks, any model you can "loot". I do like the track idea on it.

Suggestion if you don't mind? maybe a orky gun design where the drones are. (JOHIRA I see you agree with me)That may help it look more looted. The damage you have done looks great though...just more DAKKA and spikes.

An orky turret will help - and be a good place to mount a big gun if you're planning on one. And replacement drone pods (presuming they're removable? - if not, just replace the weapons). Work out all the desired weapons and other wargear and then work in reverse to best represent it on the model.

I'd also add some ork armour plate to represent repaired bits of hull.

the pic doesn't show the track mechanical bits very well - put some effort into this, if done right it will really help avoid the '2 models glued together' look.

If you have some spare lootas, and maybe the railgun for the hammerhead kicking around, dropping the railgun onto the lootas gun frame thingy could be awesome. Maybe get soem grots with some big shootas stood on top of the gun drones.

For some reason I see drones being replaced with a couple of "crow's nests", with Gretchin manning big shootas.....

Possible some sort of ram/dozer blade/deff rolla braced under the Hammerhead nose?

I do like the exposed wiring where the missing engine pod should be - any chance of shots from a couple of other angles, sowe can make further suggestions?

I think taking the nose and opening it up somehow and having some crazied ork driving it from there. A nice orky cannon on top and I love the idea of machine gun nest in the drone doo dad areas.

Maybe a gretchin back there with those open wires trying to attach them to a stikkbomb launcher or something.

Just some thoughts.

Definitely add some kind of orky turret on top swarming with grots. Maybe have gun drones that are smashed up/salvaged and make them as if their hardwire controlled and armed with ork guns.

Hope you find use of some of those ideas. The other models look ace.

Poping some grots in the drone compartments and turrent wouls look great. The entire project definately needs more orky plates and glyphs. Also, I don't like the straight metallic battle damage, I just don't see Tau vehicles using steel in their construction. I would go with a heavy black wash on those ares.

I do like the idea of a looted tau vehicle, and it would provide great comical value against your tau comrads. I understand your work is just in its early stages and I cannot wait to see the finished product.

Rip of the side doors and add running boards and hand rails with speed crazed orks hanging off!

I would make the drones into wheels and mount the thing lower. THen shove in a massive gun. Wooooooo

Hi guys, cheers for the comments. I've been waaaay busy to do much to this. More paint work and dirt, yay loads of mud!

I totally agree with the suggestions of grots in mini turrets where the drones are and incororating orky bits into the tracks and generally all over, I'll look into removing the doors as well, good idea. I don't want to add a gun mainly due to the points cost of a Boomgun wagon! It will have to be just a troop carrier.

i stressed over the "steel" look of the batttle damage but decided the Tau would possibly have used silvered coloured metal in this construction, afterall most metals are silver in colour - titanium, aluminium even lead lol so I'll kep it but avoid rusting it.
