So, after playing MW2 for the hundredth time, I wanted to make IG riot shields for my veterans. I have tried Green Stuffing frames and sprues but I can't seem to make them thin and strong enough to withstand picking up.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Card should do the trick. Cities of death floors would look nice. You could even chop up WHFB movement trays.

In necromunda, the arbites have shields.

There are also Void Junker models- they're armed with shields, and are quite cheap to pick up. Theres a thread about somewhere that uses them in an IG army.

You could also probably go to a hardware store and buy some large bore pipe. Cut it into roughly rectanguar bits and away you go.

For the clear see though part you could use the plastic from a blister pack.

Plasticard would work well if you wanted a solid steel and kevlar looking riot shield.

I've always found blister pack plastic too tricky to work with... a bit too flimsy and fiddly. What about those tubes that people buy for hamsters to run about in?

Those would be sturdier, my only problem would be finding clear plain ones. When I was young and had hamsters, they were always blue green or red.

i've seen some good success with using the tank track guards, though personally i'd use plasticard. two thin sheets with holes punched to be the eyeslit, one sheet of blisterpack plastic in between, maybe even go fancy high-tech and get lasercut aquilas for the fronts

Speaking of which, will they be Full Length riot shields (I'm using those for my 'Ard Boyz) or three-quarter length, like the ones in MW2?

Verily.

Full length if solid but if see - through then however looks good.

I used 2mm clear acrylic for my Arbites riot shields because I didn't have enough of the orginal Arbites ones. Worked a treat and I keep meaning to upload photos.

They look awesome. Thanks. I might shave off some of the details for normal squad members.

Tomb Kings shields work reasonably well for Arbites.

You could try Brettonnian Men at Arms shields - the big, square ones.

Or, get hold of some of the plastic Void Junkers from Scotia Grendel. It's £5 for ten Junkers, which gets you ten Arbites-style riot shields...

Ive seen someone on here actually make the clear shields and it looked really nice. I think they just used clear plastic from a coke bottle or something along those lines. Then glued some handle bit from a tank on the back and presto! It looked really nice.

Also, the track guards from a tank sprue work rather nicely, I think LunaHound used that one on her guard on a robo dog mini.
