I was perusing the Space Marine codex the other day, and looked at the Librarian psychic powers. Now one of them (I can't quite remember the exact name, let's just call it 'Gate') allows you to place the Librarian and co back on the table using deep strike rules. So here's my query: it says you use deep strike rules to place them, but not that they are actually 'deep striking' as per se. Would it be possible to use this power, and then assault with the squad?

But you would still have to use all the deep strike rules.
Not moving after being placed, treat all difficult terrain as dangerous, and no assault on the same time as using the deep strike rules.
On the plus side, the move is also able to make use of the deep strike mishap table.

No, you arrive via Deep Strike, so you use all the Deep Strike rules even if you are not technically deep striking.

So, you want to use all the DS rules, to place your squad and IC wherever you want on the table, then ignore the part of the DS rules that says you can't assault?!

Good luck with that

This. Deep Strike rules say no assaults on the turn you deep striked.

Just stick the Librarian with some Sternguard. Assault becomes a non-issue .

Captain Solon is somehow embracing the entertaining notion that "disembarking from any access point" (pg 81, C:SM) is somehow fulfilled by teleporting out of the landraider.

I was afraid of that. I have no clue where he got the idea that deepstriking is the same as disembarking.

What follows is a grossly simplified answer:

Yes.

No.

Maybe.

I wish it were that simple.

You will not find it. Its not in the text of the rule, and we have argued till the cows came home, and then ran away again about it.

well if it doesnt state it then you cant , like how veil states you can teleport out of C/C.
So, Gate bites then.... better arm your Sternguard with a powerfist then..lol
