Let me know what you all think. I had a long discussion with my local GW employee, YEAH LEO, and we went over different ways to set up and army. I can't wait to get 2,000 points though, so I can have my dream model. Chaos Lord on a Chaos Dragon

Here we go......

Kharnate The Impaler, Exalted Hero of Khorne.

Equipment: Chaos Armour, Halberd, Mark of Khorne, Collar of Khorne, Favor of the Gods and Biting Blade
Special Rules: The Will of Chaos, Eye of the Gods and Frenzy

A total of 164 points

2 Units of Chaos Warriors. 15 Warriors each.

Equipment: Chaos Armour, Mark of Khorne, Musician, Champion, Standard Bearer and Halberds (unit 1) Shields (unit 2)
Special Rules: The Will of Chaos and Frenzy

A total of 301 points each Unit.

Chaos Knights. 5 Knights

Equipment: Chaos Armour, Enscrolled Weapons, Shield, Barded Steed, Mark of Khorne and Champion
Special Rules: Fear, Will of Chaos and Frenzy

A total of 250 points.

All up there is a combined total of 1018 points.

What do you all think?

And if that's a khorne lord on angry dragon, it's a real piece of work indeed! In fact I'm up against one this evening ...

On your list, nice and tight and killy, if fairly slow but @ 1000 you should be able to slog over and tear somebody a new one pretty well. Your points however seem a bit off in spots, and you do want this to be 1000 even, right? May I?

H: Exalted - MoK, biting blade, collar, shield = 160
C: 15 Warriors - MoK, full command, halberds = 300
C: 15 Warriors - MoK, full command, shields = 300
S: 5 Knights - MoK, musician = 240

Exalted > Since he has a magic weapon he actually can't use the halberd ever. So I ditched it (and the favor sucking up points) to get him a bit more protection.
Warriors > Same as you had, a halberd unit and a shield unit (I'd prefer shields or shields + halberds, but ah well), but they only cost 300 total.
Knights > Traded out that expensive champ for a musician, purely there for the unfortunate turns where your 800 attaks fail to mince the other dude completely.

Some warhounds would be nice, but clearly no points for that. This is elite and fighty, which is chaos to a tee.

I'm gonna keep the Halberd for sake of the name haha, cause the Biting Blade will do the same as the Halberd, except I get an extra advantage when Wounding.

You can't have shields AND halberds, i'm under that impression from the rule book as it says that the halberd requires 2 hands..... not sure......

I see what your saying about the Musician as a back up is combat resolution fails.......... The champion is just that little extra hit power.......... I was told to have a magic standard with the knights but there is no banner which will give resistant towards magic.

Thanks for all the support mate

A halberd does require both hands in combat, but having a shield allows the model to use the shield against missile attacks or to not use the halberd at all and use the hand weapon + shield combo in combat. I find that if my CW unit is charged, the shield combo of a 2+ save allows them to shrug off most of the enemies attacks.

In combat, if the resolution is tied - the side with a musician wins. Also helps to rally a fleeing unit.

A number of magic banners are available, but none will provide MR.

No, you CANNOT use the halberd AND the Biting Blade at the same time.

You can take a Halberd and Shield, you just cannot use them together in combat.

As for the Knight Champion, I mean, it's 20 Points for 1 attack. not worth it at all, IMHO. As for banners that give them some resistance towards magic, The Blasted Standard should do just fine, methinks.

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

Or to put it another way, if you buy a magic weapon you MUST use it, you literally cannot use the halberd if you have a biting blade too. You could just ditch the biting blade and buy a halberd and a shield and then you have a choice in combat: 4 S5 attaks & 2 sv (shield + hw), or 4 S6 attaks & 4+ sv (halberd). The collar of course adds a 6+ ward on top of that.

On the list, I talked with DictatorGames a bit tonight, who has run pure khorne for a long long time now, and he admitted that this 1000 point list of yours (the one I posted too) is going to really struggle @ 1000. It's just really slow, with only the knights able to do what they want, and even then they should expect to be shot and baited. I think you should give a couple 'glasshammers' a try - khorne flail marauder horsemen. They hit like a TON of breaks, and at 1000 they should excel, without the extra firepower or uber-troops to take them out so easily.

Here's 2.0:

H: Exalted - MoK, roar, collar, halberd, shield = 179
C: 14 Warriors - MoK, full command, shields = 284
C: 6 Horsemen - MoK, musician, flails, light armor = 132
C: 6 Horsemen - MoK, musician, flails, light armor = 132
C: 5 Warhounds = 30
S: 5 Knights - MoK, musician = 240

Much faster, hits much harder, and you've still got the warrior bunker that may or may not get to see combat. Except now it has a 12" roar that shoots out of it, which is always always useful.
