The Tyranid release is 1 week away and all I can find on the GW website is a link to buy the models.

Shouldn't there be some kind of article about the new units and how awesome they are?

Yes. And by keeping this codex under wraps after how leaky SW was, I think GW failed to generate a lot of hype and will lose revenue that they otherwise would have made.

They have articles all ready to go up on the website once the Codex is out. They had put up a CoD thing for the new bugs, but took it down after a couple hours after people noticed that they army list had all the point costs in it. Personally, I didn't really care about the new `Nids until all the leaks and information on what was in the codex started to come to light. It's that kind of stuff that gets me psyched for the release. I've not bothered to look to GW at all to get me interested in upcoming releases, they only care about the stuff the month it comes out, with maybe some minor stuff the following month or two.

Sometimes GW just FAILS

What kind of build-up can there be after the release? Get people fired up to buy the book before it goes on sale. Get some massive pre orders going.

Just stunning.

It appears that the marketing department of GW is rather uninspired.

Our local GW has a couple events going on in accordance with the nids release here in Texas. Firstly, whomever comes in to buy a trygon on the 16th and manages to build and paint it by the 17th may enter it into a painting contest at the store. The person that wins gets thier picture in white dwarf and a trophy of some kind.

Secondly they are having some mega battle on the 30th where it is an unlimited points of nids VS 1500 points marines. Kinda one sided, but for those who want to participate it will persuade them to purchase some nid models before the event to get as big an army as they can.

I don't know about any other GW's of course, but that is whats going on at ours.

Hmm... I am not so excited about the Tyranid release as I once was. Maybe I am alone in thinking this. By the time next week comes around, I am not shure I will be getting anything for Tyranids. The excitement has fizzled for me. I don't see where Dakka is hyping up the Tyranid release, just a few people talking about it, but not many. If anything I think the forums have killed all the buzz of the Tyranid release with the boards, saying this is not a rumour, or that dosn't belong here, it sort of killed it for me at least.

I try to hype it up myself, because I was once excited for the release, but I find it hard to be excited for something when GW can't do anything for it either. Wow a one page shot of some Tyranids on their web site and then nothing after that. I see how excited GW is for this. If they not excited how can I be? I don't go to a GW store all the time, maybe once a year and I can't be bothered of that crap advertising magazine they call WD. So if I don't hear anything about Tyrainds how can I be excited?

Big FAIL on GW part. They just expect people who are already in GW will jump into it. I was all planed to buy a whole bunch of mini's and codex but now, maybe just the codex and one mini instead of dropping $300 worth of stuff on day one.

I'm more excited. Thanks to this site, the battle-reports and rumours and modelling projects and general gibbering, I've been able to plan out my purchases for the next couple of months, particularly regarding the purchase of Gargoyles and Raveners, more Warriors, and perhaps a Trygon.

People complain if they hype a release, people complain if they don't. The only way GW will win is if they don't play the hype-game.

I think that the forums made me get what I did... I went and got two trygon boxes, two ravenor boxes, two Gargoyle boxes, And three Hive Guard on pre-order.
And I will for sure buy another fex, and possibly two more tyrants. I want a swarmlord!

I was there, and participated in the local GW release of the space wolves and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Imagine a sea of neckbeards and children and you get the idea. My Tyrant was dropped, SW player I fought against was totally TFG and Ive never had to tell more children AND adults to stop touching my models. Im very excited for the tyranid release though, just not the "events" that the GW holds for it. Since im like 1 of 2 players at my store im gonna go in the day after they are out and skip the events. It will probably be raining so im gonna hunker down and enjoy myself while I build my new Trygon.

People just like to complain.

To the OP, people are talking about it and everyone who plays 40k knows about it. Some people are so extatically excited that they piss their bed thinking about. I'm actually excited for them too, even though I don't currently plan on starting them.

I find it funny that GW comes down on us as an online community, but wants us to comercial the game for them. But if I do get more excited, it will be because of Dakka and the peoples ideas and convertions I see.
