I can't decide if I want my Dread (when I inevitably get the set ) to be CF or DW. I have a cool idea for a Lamenters Dreadnought but the main army will be CF.

Cheers folks.
Been quiet for a bit, as most of my free time last week was spent on the Battlefield 1 Beta, but I have got a few odds and ends done up.
First, final pics of Eldrad for this month's challenge. A stunning model that I think I've mostly done justice to, it's not perfect but I'm rather pleased with it, having made a few changes from the original paintjob (which I've just realised I didn't actually post here):
Next up, a quick test for some Deathwing that I plan to get to at some point soon, just a small force of a dozen models or so to ally in to my Crimson Fists and other Imperial forces. The base model is a DV one, with a chest, head and arm swap, and I think he looks rather cool:
Moving away from 40k, here's the gruesome Bloodstoker of Khorne, a model that I wasn't sold on until I actually sat down to paint it, at which point I really came to like how grotesque and different to your average Khorne fare he is:
And finally, something completely different, the King's Man from Kingdom Death. The vast majority of that range does nothing for me, with the creepy body-horror type stuff, but I've always liked this mini, so had to grab one when I saw it cheap. The only part I changed was the head, as I'm not a huge fan of the stock one, so I swapped in a spare Elf head. I tried to get the purple cloak to have a velvety finish, which to my eye at least has worked quite well.
So that's all for now, thanks for reading and do let me know what you think!

Very good job on Eldrad, did you enjoy painting in a "cleaner" style than usual? The Deathwing Terminator is a really cool conversion, really good use of the bits box there.
Totally agree on the Blood stoker, initially I thought it was quite an odd model but once I had him in hand I totally changed my mind.
I would not have guessed that the Kingdom: Death miniature had a head swap so as far as I am concerned that is a job very well done. Stellar paint job as well, the ethereal armour is excellent.

Thanks fellas!
@Warboss: On the staff and hand, just increasingly light drybrushes really, then a dark blue wash into a few of the recesses.
@Thraxas: Eldrad was a nice change of pace, though mainly just because it's such a radically different model to even the Harlies that I've been doing. While I still don't hold with the prices GW charge for their plastic characters, Eldrad, Artemis and the SLAUGHGTERPRIEST have convinced me that they are top notch models... I'd still not pay for the ones around £18 as that's just too much for one mini, but as long as they keep putting them in discount sets then I'll be grabbing a few. I realised a couple of days ago that getting Gorechosen would give me a rather appropriate 8 Khorne heroes, so I might have to invest in that next time I have £30 spare.

Nice job with Eldrad and Vekh the Flayer .
I like the Deathwing guy, but I'm not really a huge fan of the tactical head stuck in there. Stubborn old goat that I am .
Glad to see something from Kingdom Death that isn't all penis-tentacle-y or what have you. Painting genitalia is just not something I'd be comfortable with!

Thanks guys!
@AoV; I'm not normally one for Tac heads on Termies, but the MkVIII one from Deathwatch did seem to work with the slightly different overall shape. I wouldn't normally do it, but MkVIII and III are the exceptions.
KD is an odd one. as if all the minis are like that one then it must be a top notch range, but the whole creepy body horror stuff I di find unsettling enough that I wouldn't paint it.... Might look out for some of the range's 'cleaner' bits down the line though, I think the actual survivor armour sets are a bit less freaky.
@Zambro: Great to see you back, mate! I may actually end up using the King's Man in AoS, given that he's tall enough to dwarf a SM Termie there's a fair few Stormcast profiles he might fit in as a counts-as model. By the way, are you still after Imperial Fist transfers? I know I promised you some ages ago before you went away for the summer, if you still need them I'll dig them out before I head back to uni.

Lovely stuff Para. Eldrad is looking well tidy and much cleaner paintjob. Top banana. Love that subtle desat green tinge you've given to the armour in the Kings man. Really works well against th luxourious purple of his robes. I actually really like that termie build with the SM helmet. Works grand imho. Not sure about the colouring for a deathwing member but the overall dynamism of the fig looks great. Top stuff as ever

I quite like the tax helmet on the terminator. Is really different and sure to set them apart. I think his pose is very cool.
Eldrads colours I think are spot on. You have avoided the black on black on black that he usually ends up.
I like how you are pretty busy with other things but still punch out several high quality minis.

@Jan: Funny that you're seeing green as I didn't actually use any, just blue over the 'silver' and purple over the 'gold'. Deathwing dude might be a little dark, but I'd rather go too dark than too light, and the marble effect looks a lot sharper than in the pics so I think it works!

Update time! Something completely different today, two miniatures from the Carnevale range/game that was recently picked up by ttcombat after the original publisher closed down. TT were able to drop the prices well into impulse buy territory, so when I saw the range and how cool some of these minis were, I hit 'buy' pretty much immediately! Nice casts, great prices and an aesthetic that is both distinct and very well realised. Not as haphazard as something like Malifaux, but a nice blend of steampunk, Renaissance and classic gothic horror (not so much on these, but there are vampire and cult-y factions that definitely go into that territory), in a setting that, if not that unique (basically Venice+Big Magic Hole In The Sky) is rather compelling as a backdrop for a minis game. Anyway, enough ramblings, on with the pics! Tonio Lelessia, a Venetian Noble, ready to go all Renaissance Batman on the villains of Venice! And Carlotta Constantin, a spy from abroad, sent to investigate the strange happenings that may or may not be connected to a magical rift tearing the universe open... These two were a nice change of pace, and really fun to paint as well. Nice smooth casts, awesome designs. Here's the link if anyone else fancies giving them a look, they're highly recommended if Steampunk is your thing and when they come back in stock, I'll definitely be grabbing a couple of starter sets (I'm leaning towards Vatican and Strigoi, though I'm tempted by the Patricians as well...) http://ttcombat.com/collections/carnevale Anyway, that's a wrap for now, any thoughts welcome! Cheers for reading!
