I like it just because of the track work you had to put into it, that must have been a pain!
Good use of GW bits though to make it look less like a military kit, that seems to be the problem I see with most conversions like that.
Nice work, when does it get primer and paint?

Really nice. I was gonna make a couple of centaurs for my techmarines to ride round in. This might just have given me the inspiration.
Now get it painted up.

I'm diggin it, I may get a couple for counts-as Chimeras for my command squads to cruise in. In my opinion, ya shoulda covered up the road wheels with some card or somethin, but other than that great use of all the millions of extra bits ya get from IG kits!

I wasn't sure when I saw your initial photo, didn't look like much of a conversion. But it looks great painted, I think if you'd done much more it would have ruined it. Suits the guard well.

Tamiya now make a rather nice kit of the Universal Carrier in 1/48th scale as opposed to this one in 1/35th. It is tiny but offers enormous potential for the Guard as do many of their, and other manufacturers, 1/48th scale vehicle kits.

I was little concerned about getting a 1/35th but I find with vehicles of this size it tends to work better than large battle tanks.

I might do one more, the track assembly was a real bitch though so I may do what a lot of you have suggested and put some kind of track guards on the next one if I end up making one.
I would rather use the IA rules than make vdr ones since vdr tends to be very expensive pointswise. Considering I'll need my opponents consent either way I'll be using the IA most likely. With smoke launchers and extra armor it ends up being 55pts, the exact price of a chimera. It's only real benefit is its speed and the fact that it's open topped. What is nice is you can move 12 and fire both the stubber and a heavy weapon from the squad, because it mounts to the vehicle. Really it's just a transport for a powerful IC or command squad.

your talking to someone who has 6 Salamanders, so i hear you! i'd be nice if they would mainstream the Centaur and the Salamander, but i guess they can't take all of FW vehicles.
this one turned out fanfreakintastic, can't wait to see more!

I figuer most people would let me run it. I'd always make sure not to assume and ask ahead of time. Unless I'm going for a close combat oriented command squad I probably wouldn't take it anyway.

Primed with krylon matt black, drybrushed with gw large drybrush with codex grey followed by a little bit of fortress grey on some areas. I then apply a bit of bedab black was to certain areas to darken selectively. Metal areas are drybrushed boltgun and then very light drybrush of mithril silver. The gree areas are catachan green and the highlight is camo green. Dwarf flesh with a little bit of bedab black wash for flesh. Fortress grey with for the aquilas with a highlight of white. Shining gold for the helmet and chest aquilas. Automatically Appended Next Post: Million wrote:Really nice blend of historical kit and GW bits, to please both camps. First off, nice job. I don't know what the centaur is supposed to look like, but this model looks like it would fit right in to any game of 40K. NICE!
Second, I always wanted to use models of this kind but never knew what scale would be appropriate. It looks like 1/35th is the winner - the IG guys fit in here perfectly.
