Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. Personally I am still crawling out from under a pile of responsibilities I put off! Anyway, I wanted to share our January release. Hope you like her.

Some information about the character class has been posted to our main site : http://kingdom-death.com

She will be out hopefully this week. As usual, News will go out to our little mailing list first.

That is one well executed sculpt. The face in particular is excellent, and the use of resin allows for some great detail in the layers of cloth at the neck. However, the pose is not going to protect the staff from breakage, which being resin, it will be subject to.

also, the costume is a bit... odd. Short dress unbuttoned to show panties? Who exactly is this marketed to?

In any case, excellent execution which makes me curious about other releases which might be more up my particular avenues of interest.

Haha, She is actually wearing shorts... Let me also post the concept artwork too. Sculpting credits go to Sylvain Quiriorn.

And yeah, that staff might not do too well if it was dropped off a table!

It would be interesting to see it painted up... The resin's not really doing it for me, I'm afraid. The face looks much 'older' than the concept art, which loses some of the cherubic cuteness. And the lock of hair sticking up just looks like a horn on the mini... had me wondering what that was all about until I saw the sketch.

Detail-wise, though, the sculpt is excellent.

Have to agree with inasniak. I was pulling an evil vibe off her until I scrolled to the concept art. "Oooooooh, okay, I see now."

Its a nice sculpt but as already said the face looks a little evil, i think its because the jaw line is too pointy and the nose is a little bigger than the concept maybe. However if i had'nt seen the concept i'd be none the wiser and thinking 'cool evil caster girlie'.

I agree that it is a nice sculpt. It did not convey the same feeling as the drawing, for me, because of the eyes. In the picture, they are big and bright. In the sculpt, they are a set in a bit too much I think, too serious. Wonderful sculpt, just a bit of a disconnect between the picture and the sculpt.

This is a fantastic sculpt, but the hollow eye sockets are what is makign the face not " work" I think. Well in so far as it does not " work " with the conept art that is.

To be honest I thought this was a fantastic example of a " creepy " kind of hot chick and in perfect keeping with the theme of the range.

Great sculpt, but what are they for?

Is this a game? If so, how do you play it?

What other figures should you get to go with these guys?

Grot 6. The sculpt is for the game Kingdom Death, however, to my knowledge the rules haven't been printed yet. But the studio is already producing models for it .

Great sculpt! I agree it doesn't really match the feel of the art, but I like it better as a sculpture! Menacing staff chick is better than silly anime girl. Necklace is a great touch.

I'm seriously confused.

A game? Ok, I'll Bite. Tell me about this game. What is this for? What do you have to do? Is this game fun? What makes it fun? How does this work when the models are only a set number of sculpts? Is It an RPG? Is It a Mini's game? What is this deal about the world that it works in? What are the boundaries of play? Do I play it on a board, a table top game? Does it play Like a historical game? Does it play Like Inquisitor? What does the scenery look like? How much scenery do I need?

No conversation on that site on how to play this so called game? And isn't it a bit constraining when there doesn't even seem to be anything in terms of downloads, other model options, and conversation as to nuts and bolts to this game? At the very least, is there a place to get some teaser rules, or something?

Great sculpts, sure, but this is just damn confusing that you pop up with , "Oh. here is another sculpt.." and say its a game with a whole whopping three guys, which by my look here are all vague looking concepts that are supposed to fit in some sort of "Dead Land" type of setting.

Who is she, and why do I care about her? What can she do that is so special? Do you have one of those in 28 to 32 MM?

Post something more then, "Look at the pretty licky-chewy..." please.

Otherwise why do I care? Its a 35MM resin sculpt. Whoopy doo. Can you go ahead and make some good quality skulls? I'd like to put them on a few of my German WW2 guys.
and make my own "Weird War Tales" Death-guy to play this game with.

Sell me. What do I want this for?

What panties? I see shorts. I guess you could consider them underwear if you're thinking boxers, but given the standards of clothing for female miniatures this is hardly an over the top example.

Even though it looks like it could be confusing, it appears that the designers of the game agree with you (as they posted earlier).

Rail on about exposed midriffs if you must, but she is, apparently, decently (enough) clothed.

Grot 6- According to their website, the game is out later this year. That's presumably why there's not a lot of information on it so far.

They've been releasing collector's versions of each of the miniatures one at a time for those who want them. They're not really being marketed at people who want the game at this point, just as limited edition miniatures for those who are interested in such things.

The game itself is in the vein of heroquest, warhammer quest and descent. At the core its a cooperative experience with players controlling a single hero and facing off against the game system itself. There is no dungeon master or story teller.

Players will be able to level up their characters and use them from game session to game session. Each skill/ un-lockable/ ability a character class has, falls under an archetype specific to that class. For example, the Twilight Knight has 3 archetypes. Skills / abilities from the "deserter" archetype do not become available unless the player can break his mind lock. This can be a double edged sword however, as many of his previous abilities might require him being mind locked to work. We wanted to add plenty of build variety to the game and keep it flavorful... but its important it doesn't over-complicate things.

The Kingdom Death team ( so to speak ) is a tiny two man operation. We have been slowly forming relationships with a variety of artists and sculptors to bring our ideas and the world to life. Its uh... not a very quick process!

I would love to share actual rules and have some play test sessions... but in all honesty we are just not ready for that yet.

We are releasing miniatures in limited collectors runs to help with the financial of the project and to hopefully attract interest!

Right now, everything needs to be about small steps. With so much invested we really want to have an end product we are proud of, something special that hopefully the niche group it reaches really appreciates.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
oh! I forgot to add that we have an article in irregular magazine issue 2. It talks a bit more about the game and the motivations to create it.

I would copy pasta, but the magazine is really worth checking out. It's free and put together by some pretty serious enthusiasts!

http://irregularmagazine.com/back-issues/

There is also more info about the Savior class up on our website... that however i CAN copy over here!

Savior
Saviors are undaunted heroes, single minded and suicidally reckless in their quest to make a change in mankind's horrible existence. This meteoric existence ensures their lifespan will be short but bright.

Burning Brightest
The Saviors unwavering guiding star is a shared destiny to change the world for the better. Their eyes constantly open to the tormented existence of others, they dedicate the whole of their being to others. Each act of heroism intoxicates the Saviors, delirious from the heady realization of their higher purpose they are emboldened to greater risks to their own safety. Saviors seek to symbolize hope in a dark and drab world, often adopting bright bizarre garb to match their stations as self-appointed heroes of mankind.

Dreamers with Blackened Feet
In their dreams Saviors travel to an entity they call the Ethereal Dreamer. Nightly, they trudge through the twisting scape of the world's collective nightmares seeking the Dreamer's secrets of power and magic. Over time their dream pilgrimage leaves the Savior threadbare; their feet become sooty and gnarled , their faces sallow with deep shadows under their eyes. Saviors who exceed their expected lifespan eventually begin to fade bit by bit, devoured by the dream world that once empowered them.

How They Play
Saviors are easy to play but hard to maintain. They have a wealth of useful abilities and last second miracles that can save a party from wiping out... but relying too heavily on them can greatly shorten the lifespan and max level of a savior.

Well, first off, good luck with your mission Kingdomdeath!

I have seen the previous miniatures, and I realise that these are "collector" miniatures for display and painting....at the moment. Similar to Studio McVey's current lines.

The only downside, IMHO, to your current operations is your website. I remember going onto it, filthy wads of cash in my greasy mitts, ready to hurl the Queens coin at you for a specific miniature that had caught my fancy....and for some reason I left, pockets bulging and no miniature.

I undestand that you are doing limited runs, but the way in which you have advertised the miniatures and the, I have to say, almost elitist and snobbish, way the website is layed it...it almost gave me the impression that I would be priviliged to be able to buy one of your miniatures. Suffice to say, even though the miniature I wanted appeared to be sold out, I would seriously refrain from attempting to buy another from your site.

I realise that this is all my own impression, and may be entirely different from what you intended your website to come across as.....however, it might be worth looking into this! There are a lot of sites selling collector grade miniatures, which means a lot of competition, as I'm sure your're aware.

As far as this miniature is concerned. The sculpting is A+, the theme is not for me personally, and I agree that the miniature alone is great, but it fails to capture the artwork that inspired it. I think that the pose is almost too typical, and again, IMHO, comes across quite static and unplaceable....by that I mean, I can't imagine a setting where this pose would be relevant.

All that said, once again, best of luck with this miniature, your game, and future offerings.

Man down, Man down....

is there something wrong with her wearing just panties anyway. It is a known fact that the less armor a female character wears the better she survives in h-t-h combat.

Unless it is a woman with nurgle like qualities and pus come from places pus shouldn't come I am never going to complain about a female model showing a little bit of underwear.

2014 will be the year of zero GW purchases. Kneadite instead of GS, no paints or models. 2014 will be the year I finally make the move to military models and away from miniature games.

@delephont,

That is very interesting for me to hear and I thank you for sharing your perspective with me. We certainly DO NOT intend to come off as elitists or snobs and we are extremely grateful to everyone that has given us their attention and/or interest.

I thought it would be fun and different to put together the website the way we did and although its true we are only doing limited runs now we really hope to expand that!

Every facet of the project has presented itself as unique a challenge and hopefully if enough people are understanding we'll get it right eventually!

One small step at a time.
