There are also more terrorists. I can describe them. They are american citizens. They Live among us, we don't even realize it. Who are they? Well they are easy to describe. Their skin is not tanned, but white. They are not muslims, But protestant Christians. They are not or arab or Middle eastern decent, but of Europena, more specifically of Germna, Dutch, Swiss, Danish, Belgian and Austrian Decent. Who are they? They are:

The Ku Klux Klan
The Council of Conservative Citizens.
The National Socialist Movement (Nazis for short)
The Minutemen Militias forming all over the Arizona, Texas, and California Border.
The Order of the White Knights
Jesus Camp
And some evangelist Churchs and organizaions

Now let us return to the defenition of terrorism as stated by wikipedia:

If simply causing fear is the standard, you forgot every military on the planet, as well as every law enforcement agency, many religions, and quite a few doctors and lawyers.

After all, militaries must inflict fear of defense or retribution on potential enemies to be worthwhile, and law enforcement agencies must make potential criminals fear the punishment of their crimes. It is often important for religions to make their followers fear eternal punishment, or at lest the absence of eternal reward, if they ignore that religion's doctrines. Doctors often find it necessary to instill fear of later diseases and conditions on people who would otherwise live their lives in an unhealthy manner, and lawyers instill a fear of committing civil infractions.

Technically the KKK is just an extremist organization that bases itself in hate rhetoric. It doesn't engage in terrorist acts any more. The national socialist movement was a legitimate government faction, which precludes them from being terrorists. The minutemen militias aren't terrorists because they don't engage in acts of terrorism, they use citizen arrest rights and largely just report things to the local law enforcement. Jesus camp was a bunch of nutjobs, but again, no terrorist acts were engaged in. Don't know that much about the CCC, and "some evangelist churches and organizations" is too broad a brush for me to argue for or against.

If you're going by the straight wide brush of the general definition than most world militaries, and a considerable number of proselytizing religions are terrorist organizations. But by that same definition so are a lot of banks. You need to use the legal definition, which while still having it's shortfalls is much more accurate.

The threat of violence is of paramount importance when classifying something as terrorist. In that case the KKK used to fit, but no longer does, as did the black panthers, and the IRA (though many would argue they still are).

There are quite a few non muslim and european/asian terrorists. But not really the ones you listed. Extremism is not terrorism, and vice versa.

Anti-abortion bombers would be an example. As would the Unabomber, and other eco-terrorists.

Actually racial and religious prejudice increase significantly as poverty increases. You have that backwards.

I almost forgot about the IRA. They're one of the poster boys for terrorism, really. The Tamil Tigers should probably count. The more violent white supremacist groups would, as would a lot of the political groups in Latin America I'm sure.

As Shuma said, it's really the terroristic acts themselves that are decided on first, with the label of "terrorist" then being applied to those who committed those acts.

How to avoid Terrorism.

Laugh at them. Terrorists detonated bombs on the London Underground, and killed several people in a nasty manner. London, by and large, was up and running again by team time. They sacrificed themselves for their cause, and achieved nothing. Make a stand, don't bury your head in the sand. Laugh at the daft buggers for making lame bombs and wasting a golden opportunity.

Don't take it seriously, and you can write them off.

I think if someone is planting bombs it may be useful to look at what factors are bringing them to do that, and think about ways to prevent it from happening through diplomacy and engagement where possible, and heightened security where it is not.

@ op: Speaking as a white, Christian, conservative, American: I don't think all Arabs, or muslims are terrorists. I have worked for people who are muslim and been friends with muslims. I have white, black, arab, and mexican fiends etc. I kinda feel like your sterotyping me man.

That's why I also put in the bit about heightened security.
The insanity argument is a convenient one, but it's still a good idea to think about why those insane folk chose you as their target, instead of someone else.Too far gone now to make a difference, but I think it's worth considering. I'm also not sure the cause of all or even a majority of islamic terrorists is the extermination of american culture and the christian faith, but obviously I can't be sure at all.

The cult of personality thing seems to be true, but if you boil it down enough, the hatred of the West has to come from some actual, real world issues. Otherwise they wouldn't gain any traction.

Anyone that has lived anywhere know that extremest exist. There are few Americans that are unaware that there extremist groups within a country this populated. As much fun as you are having listing white extremist groups you might want to also look into the others non-white and mixed ethnic extremist movements. In other words you are being just a big a tool as they are by presenting only one ethnic group responsible for trouble in the group. It is more complex than that and it isn't white vs Muslim (how would you count the white Muslims?) or white vs black or west vs east. If you really want to inform yourself on extremist groups take a stroll over to the Southern Poverty Law Centers website and learn about our rainbow intolerance with both ethnic extremists (white, black, hispanic, and others), religious extremists (Christian, Muslim, and Jewish are all there!), and many more!

And as pointed out before, being idiots isn't terrorism whereas strapping on bombs and actually blowing things up and shooting people is. Knowing the difference between someone who says something you don't like and someone who is shooting at you can be an important distinction to be able to make.

Not at all. Most of their hatred of the West is hatred of the lifestyle and the supposed decadency that we live in here, while we laugh at their pathetic misfortunes and crack the whip on Israel to exterminate them.

I wouldn't by necessity classify anyone that utilizes IEDs as a terrorist, much of the knowledge on the construction of IEDs and their use was pioneered in world war two, and the following domino wars. They are a hallmark of resistance fighters who don't have factories producing c4 for them, but they aren't always illegitimate in use. Also a few indian dudes were knifed in australia recently, and it's largely believed to be racially and religiously motivated.

You should probably look at parts of catholic africa if you want areas of christian influenced ethnic strife and violence. It was a pretty bad list though, thats for certain. Western terrorism is typically secular in nature, given the modern institutional protection of religion.

Dude, seriously. Go and look up the full History of the Israel/Palestine conflict. Both are as bad as each other, and I find Israel to be a disgusting little Bully of a Nation.
