So i just had my third (and most legit) game today against drop pod wolves against my tau.
I found it alright but my kroot pretty much killed two marines than died. I found out that my army list i pretty solid the only problem is my strategy.
It was capture and control and he won but if i had jumped my stealth suits to his objective i could have tied it up. Stupid me not thinking ahead. Anyways the one thing that really got me was his one marine squad that just wouldn't die. I pumped shots into it form my whole army for two turns and it didn't die. I ended up finally killing the last guy on the 5th turn! This guy was majorly lucky with his roles!
my tau aren't very durable as i've found out today and makes me really wonder if my ork list will hold up when im finished it. Its a hybrid army with 75 sloggers and 3 fast units to counteract templates and whatever.
Hopefully ill get in another game within the month to practice more.
In terms of strategy and army lists....why don't you peruse the tactics forum for some of the discussions about both of these? There's plenty of folks with experience under their belts that you could benefit from.
