Not Live action, a 70 min. CGI animation.

Both don't look like anything really special IMO, although nice to see GW doing things like this.

It's being run by people with short term vision and enough greed to extinguish a sun.

Perhaps they're the C'tan.

It'll just be a palette-swapped episode of Clone Wars.

You say that like it's a bad thing...

I sat down the other day and watched the entire first season of Clone Wars...and I was quite impressed. The storylines were fairly cliche, but some of the stuff was surprisingly adult themed all things considered.

I mean, there were at least three episodes that I saw that were variations on the idea of the policy of appeasement and how it never leads to "true peace".

Well if its anything like clone wars count me out, and the fact that warhamme space marine allows you to run around as a space marine and boot them in the face sounds good enough for me.

This is good.... isn't it?

What's the point of this thread? There's already been rumor threads and countless copies of this thread in this very section of the website. Until there's new info for either, there's little to discuss.

Actually, the Ultramarines movie is mostly about the Imperial Guard. The IG spends an hour getting mauled in new and different ways by Tyranids, and then the last 7 minutes is the Ultramarines!!! dropping in from drop pods and saving the day. Then 3 minutes of credits. The proper title for the movie is the imperial guard and Ultramarines.

Space Marines! Yeah!

For 40K? It is a bad thing. As much as I love Clone Wars, it's a schizophrenic show. It cannot decide if its a show for kids (episodes like Bombad Jedi spring to mind), or a show for adults (they torture a Jedi to death on screen in Season 2 Ep1).

I just fear that a 40K movie will be the same thing - loads and loads of really clean violence.

It's conjecture, I admit, but with the last 20+ years of the Astartes pooping on the IG at every opportunity, I think it's good conjecture. I imagine at least at one part in that last 7 minutes, an Ultramarine Drop Pod will land on a squad of IG, squishing them.

Well yeah, it's true that it seems that it cannot decide what it is. But if they design a 40k movie from the ground up to be R rated, with Dan Abnett doing the plot, etc...I'd be surprised if it's too "clean".

@alexwars1

I actually don't think we'll see anything of the IG other than a cameo at best, or perhaps an ally; but I really believe that most of the screentime will be taken up by Ultramarines, perhaps the inside of a battlebarge, Macragge, character development, etc... It wouldn't be an Ultramarines movie if they only show at the end

In all honesty, they could just take any one of the Gaunt's Ghosts books and easily convert it to a movie and get a pretty good product.

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular."

I think that if is a Clone wars remake then they need to at leat bump it up to a rated "R" film and give it some more blood and gut like a space marine would actually see in his life. Also i wouldnt mind seeing a more bloody and violent clone wars. Also If the IG are in this movie till they call in the SM's then why would it be called ULTRAMARINE and not IMPERIAL GAURD.... Im just trying to throw out my boltershells in this argument

The thing is, taking a Gaunt's Ghosts novel and translating it to a film version requires some pretty hefty explanation of some things(Chaos, Blood Pact/cultists, the Inquisition, etc).

Doing an Ultramarines movie based off the Battle for Maccragge or the like? Not much explanation other than a brief rundown of "How Things Came To Be This Way" at the start.

I just think that If they are going to make a movie they better pay spacific attention to detail because if they make one mistake they will have millions+ 40k fanns on thier case

IMHO, with Dan Abnett writing the script, there isn't a great chance of huge mistakes...

And, even if that wasn't enough, this is GW we are talking about here! You know, the uberprotective company that shuts down websites for carrying old versions of their games... If Codex Pictures messed anything, I mean anything up, GW would be all over them like a case of Nurgle's Rot and the director would be ton apart by an Eversor.
