I was in a game a few nights back, Thursday I think.

Foe had Haley, and was frankly thumping me. He still had Haley (undamaged), Squire, Journeyman controlling Lancer (with 5 boxes of damage and Arcane shield on it), Centurion, 2 gunmages, and Watts from the Black Thirteenth.

I had a Renegade with its saw busted and Magnus with 10 damage. As he was lining up to finish me off he walked the Lancer out of Magnus's threat range to open the way for the Centurion. Magnus pimp slapped it, and since this was Mark I still that was a knockdown. The 3 focus jack had to wait a turn.

Then what you all saw coming happened on my turn. 2 focus on Renegade. It walks up, drops a rocket on Haley. Needs a 13 to hit, rolls a 13. Then rolls a 14 for the kill. Sweet as pie.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

There wasn't enough room for him to simply shift the Lancer out of the way? Or did he need a
clear lane so that he could charge? Was there another model in the way?

Safest thing would have been to pump focus into the Lancer and just stab him with the spear.

Though I have been known to go for the dramatic win and lose horribly.

I have similar stories, except they all seem to involve me going for the kill and then failing by
one damage box or something.

One time I was playing my Khador against Caine. He left him out in the open with no focus on turn 2. I advanced my Destroyer with 2 focus and proceed to roll a 17 to hit and an 18 to damage.

Just getting into the game but as a group we've already commented on the utter craziness that has happened in our games. Seems like Warmachine really allows for a comeback factor.

I chose to play Darth Stryker and his suit has fried him several times already = |

However, like golf....I remember that one good shot of having a POW 26 weapon....and keep rolling....

I was watching Hardcore at Gencon last year.

It's a lot of fun to watch, but you don't want to get too close because the players
push away from the tables and stand up after not too long. Anyway, everyone is
rolling dice plugging away when suddenly you just hear

"eStryker killed himself!"

People clapped and got back to work.

*Snort*, I need to think of a cool Bruce Willis style one liner for when it happens to me (which given how reckless I play, will be often).

Maybe...

Drunken Borka once made 3 (or was it 4?) consecutive Tough rolls and then brained Mr. Skorne Dual Mace, who failed his.
Glorious.

Tough Rolls are the things of the legends. The most I've ever made consecutively in
a caster kill situation (can't remember if it was Borka, Xerxis or, don't laugh, Amon) was
two. And then he was dead.

I once had a revenant quartermaster with his whole crew dead make 4. In a tournament. For the scenario win.

Foe about punched me.

But we were both low down in the pack, so it didn't matter.

Once had Kaya charge my Madrak. He had just 1 fury to transfer to a pyre troll with a few wounds left. After a scroll, a transfer, and many damages later, Madrak sat at 1 wound with the pyre at 1 wound left. Suffice to say, Kaya didn't live the next turn. But that was crazy luck on my side!

I once threw beast09 at the wardog trying to kill it and give me a chance to kill irusk with ekaya, his def was way to high with the wardog in play. long story short, missed the wardog and scattered onto irusk knocking him down instead. After saying unf*cking believable about 5 times my oponent conceded. lol

I am the whitekong.
