Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags. |

Digital camo looks great.

Yep old news I'm afraid, this was floating about before Christmas.
Don't expect to see it too soon either as these things take an age to roll out.
I also can't help thinking that the money could have been better spent elsewhere, such as on a new chinook or two.

I have it strictly on the Qt that that is not the new camo pattern.
Here's a quick pick of an SAS trooper sporting the new colors, complete with newly painted all terrain vehicle.

I am sure if you ask any SAS or Brit soldier, they will all agree that that is indeed a spitting image of their particular sergeant (except the image above is prettier-their sergeant is way more ugly and mean).

Digi cam (used to just be worn by US marines back when i was in Baghdad but i believe its service wide now) is great as it pixelates and can hide you excellently when you are being viewed with cameras/digital imaging devices etc.
The new British cam (far left on the pic) is apparently a mixture of the old woodland type dpm we always used (rupert in the centre) and the desert coloured dpm we always got issued when deploying out there (far right)
Apparently it is a good cam for everywhere, rather than a great cam for one type of terrain.
There is a large area in northern Helmand known as "the green zone" as places near the Hemland river tended to go from sandy and dusty to green and lush due to agricultural pursuits. Hence, your desert DPM was great one minute, and then made you stand out like a bastard at a family reunion the next.
Being as you dont tend to be able to choose the area that you want to be in when you get engaged (not much of a guerilla enemy if you dont pick and choose the time to shoot up the troops!) and the Afghans dont have much digital equipment i think that a "jack of all trades" DPM sounds like a good idea.
Knowing the state of our armed forces though, i dont doubt it wont be "live" until about 2045 and the Chinese have shifting armour like the fething Predator.

The trick here is that everyone thinks the gunny sergeant is the dog, when in fact that gunny sergeant is actually the rock that kid in the background is holding. He's so well disguised he even kicked that kick in the nuts without anyone realising.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

I doubt that is true.
You cant even shout at the squaddies as their drill sergeant anymore (not claiming i am none, i am a ponti).
Something as hardcore as cutting off a tattoo is likely to violate someones equal rights and that is very naughty.
The people you don't want to piss off the the Gurkhas and the Paras, and even the Paras dont want to piss off the Gurkhas. oh the stories about Gurkha 'revenge'. Gurkhas have a way of getting their own back, no matter how tough you are you will lose. You wont be harmed, they have self control too, though you might be in your underwear taped upside down to a tree. I will accept this at face value, cause Oz is known to hav e quality troops. Is the soldier visible and camoflaged or buried? If he is under enough leaves he can remain hidden in a loud shirt.
Its one thing to bury in a alive test, but in a photo test the soldier should be right there. And I cant see the digger.

Perhaps, but I have seen similar photos, and it is difficult to spot the soldiers.
There is room for a soldier, or you or I under the leaves in a depression in the foreground. This doesn't count as a camo test though unless you are present to physically check. Automatically Appended Next Post: check this selection:
