If Necrons were to have a new codex what should be add , if the stats could change what would be changed?

I think this belongs in proposed rules, not YMDC.

Trade rules: lower rep trades ships 1st. - I ship within 2 business days, if it will be longer I will contact you & explain. - I will NOT lie on customs forms, it's a felony, do not ask me to mark sales as "gifts". Free shipping applies to contiguous US states.

I am moving this thread to 40K Discussion.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Not going to talk unit specific, just army wide...

1.) Make We'll Be Back give Necrons Feel No Pain.
2.) Make Necrons Stubborn, or their own uber Stubborn rule where they are always LD10 and can not be modified in ANY way.

These first two will fix their primary problem of being irredeemably bad in Close Combat. They're still not going to be killy, but they'll be durable and implacable, like they're supposed to be.

3.) Remove Phase Out as an army wide condition, and move it to the unit level. If a unit of Necrons breaks, they Phase Out and are removed from the table.

This keeps in the fluffy aspect of Phase Out, while not making it an "I Lose" button. With the aforementioned change of Necrons always testing on a LD10, they're going to break rarely, but suffer more when they do.

generally keep the stats the same, change maybe Gauss to do -1 with a glancing hit rather than -2, to give back that killing power they used to have.

weapons: give their guns a little more punch or adjust the ap values to some to bring them in line with other shooting armies

give flayed ones and wraiths rending at least, some sort of power when in CC

Make the lords a little more choppy, upped WS at the very least....I mean Hive Tyrants went from 5 to 8, an IC at 100pts raw should warrant at least WS 5...

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD CHANGE PARIAHS! Make them some sort of psyker null zone, reroll successful tests or just flat out negate if powers pass through their 12" field. Give em 2 wounds so while they aren't Necrons thus having FNP they at least have the staying power to warrant their absurd point cost.

A new sort of vehicle, maybe make a combo between a Necron Flayed One and a tombspyder. A sort of CC beast with a dreadnought armor value...that would be interesting.

Make H. Destroyers maybe twin-linked and lance weapons.

Monolith is fine. Keep it that annoying factor because every army needs one!

I really don't know why everyone is pushing for FNP over WBB. The fact that AP 1 and AP2 weapons dont negate WBB makes it infinitely better then FNP. Plus the fact that it's rolled for on the necron players turn makes it great for the purpose of phase-out when the necron player has 2nd turn. Other situational reasons also make it fantastic but the main fact is that WBB becoming FNP would be a nerf for an army that really needs a boost.

Oh no, the people on the internet are yelling at me again.

WBB becoming FNP would be a nerf to shooting, and a buff to HtH. With FNP, you get to hit your attackers back, where as with WBB you don't. Result is you suck a little less at it.

MOST weapons that are AP2 also cause Instant Death. Yes, I know not all of them do. Off hand, Lascannons and Lances vs Destroyers, and Plasma vs everyone is what I think of, plus the occasional low Str Rending gun.

Also, it's simpler. Yes, I know how WBB works, I've been playing Necrons since they first came out, but it's a royal pain to teach anyone new. They have an entire page in the FAQ just talking about how WBB works for Deceiver's sake!

My biggest complaint with them has always been the lack of troop choices. I'd move Flayed Ones from elite to Troop, drop the infiltrate rule and give them Disruption Fields automatically (which I don't think they had).

I like the idea about WBB being unit specific as opposed to army wide. It could lead to some rather interesting tactics.

Maybe a new type of Lord. I've seen many conversions using a Tomb Spyders body. Maybe put out a model like that, used primarily for CC chopping.

Plastic Immortal models. I'd love to field a couple units, but price wise, its freakin' ridiculous.

What? Could it be? A GW-related worker? Looking for input?

SQUEEEEEEEE!!!

Joking aside, I would just do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I think they are fine, cool and balanced as they are.

Though we do need some more plastic models in the range.

Easily fixed if the res orb granted the units a 'always allowed' FNP when in a bubble radius. also tomb spyders having that, really frustrating having a whole unit blown away and the other unit is juuuuuuuuust mere centimeters away to WBB into.

Yeah, make the Res Orb ignore the normal disqualifications of Feel No Pain. Make the Monolith Portal either allow a unit which used it last turn to reroll failed FNP rolls, or allow them to make the save on a 3+.

The Tomb Spider I would make into a Walker type vehicle, and give it a big Carnifex sized plastic kit. Make it much meaner and more intimidating than it is now. To keep it as something that helps buff near by guys, you could give it a KFF like upgrade option.

Add more units, and explain them as more Necrons awakening to harvest the universe. hell, 'Nids got to evolve.
Also, make warriors a little less brittle model wise.
Plastic wraiths, plastic flayers.

Plastic Necron Lord kit with upgrade/wargear sprues. Options for Destroyer and Wraith bodies.
Unique HQs, either as named Lords or "counts as" fake C'tans.

Tomb Spyders receive an enhanced ability to generate scarabs.
New Necron Walker or MC. Something meaty with some weight to it.

Flayed Ones moved to Troops, rules modified accordingly.
New Elite unit to replace the Flayed Ones, with rules actually befitting the elite slot (looking at you, Flayed Ones).

Drop Pod-ish vehicles that create teleporter relays like Webways.
Stubborn sprinkled around the army.

What I hope will happen:
More focus on manipulation of space and time (Veil of Darkness, Chronometron, Phase Shift). Allow the army to progressively increase its mobility by deploying special vehicles or pylons.
More use of technology so advanced it feels arcane (Solar Pulse, Staff of Light, Phylactery, Lightning). Play up those Egyptian ties.
Less focus on the Teminator "feel". Apparently the last part is rumored to be true: the Necrons are taking more inspiration from more Immortal rather than Terminator. For the love of god be true.

What we can assume and even nearly guarantee based on the last few releases:
Necrons will receive special or named HQ units. Probably the same for the Elite slot.
A new BIG unit/plastic kit will be added that can be assembled into one of two (or more!) units (Look at the Valkyrie & Trygon)
New model-less units in just about every slot to encourage kitbashing (and buying multiple kits just to assemble one unit. Hello Harpy, Tervigon, Tyrannofex, Parasite of Mortrex, Doom of Malan'tai).

Necrons have many different paths they can take to be unique, both in narration and army feel. There's little doubt that the new Necrons will no longer play the same, just like the new Tyranids are so intrinsically different. If you're curious, I made a fairly long post here about plastic and metal re-sculpts, based on GW's releases and trends.

8000 points of XI Legion the Space Vagabonds, they can adapt their tactics to represent any and every Legion and Chapter as needed because they were created by the Emperor to be the ultimate tactical power. They have faked their disappearance in order to infiltrate every part of the conflicts in the galaxy.

8000 points of Tau/Craftworld Eldar/Necron because the Space Vagabonds can also emulate their wargear and tactics.

Victories: ALL
Losses: NONE (My armies have the psychic ability to conjure a cataclysmic storm whenever they are about to lose. This allows the Space Vagabonds to teleport away while releasing power waves that destroys the battlefield and so every battle is a victory)

Last I heard were that some new Necrons were being sculpted. Only thing I remember being mentioned specifically were Lords with different types of bodies.
