I think this belongs in Proposed rules, not YMDC. But I think maybe a 1-2 pt cost reduction in fire warriors and re-word our wargear / replace what is no longer applicaple. I'm looking at you target-priority tests. . .

A lot of our wargear mentions target priority tests & this causes a veritable Sh*t Storm over whether it works or not.
Since we have to take a target priority test for some wargear, but those tests no longer exist, do we assume it to be passed, or assume it not to work because a test that can't be taken can't be passed?
There's other things in there to but I wouldn't get into it. The topic has been beaten to death, performed exterminatus on & been cast into a sun by now.

Every other piece of wargear says something about a target priority test, while there no longer is a "target priority test" or anything akin to it in the rulebook.
Edit: beat me to it
The way i understand it if there is no test to take then you ignore it and just use the wargear without a test, but either way most gear lets you ignore them which at this point is irrelevant.

Yea beast, and I'd like to see fire warriors get a 1-2 point reduction. I think they're a little over costed for their effectiveness but it is nothing that I think NEEDS to be changed. Update in general.
Fire warriors need to be cheaper. They're overpriced for what they can do. Their stat line isn't much better than a guardsmen, and aren't they more pricy? They have good guns sure, and I get that the tau aren't a numerically superior army, but they need either an improved stat line (BS4 is an easy one to do) or a points reduction, or some kind of special ability. Maybe something to help them escape melee combat?
Kroot need better stats. At least make them I4 or 5. At I3, their worthless in melee without some hounds with them.
Devil Fish are ridiculously expensive. They're worth 3 kill points, cost a mountain of points, and for what? They have great armor. Their skimmers, and well... thats it. I propose removing the gun drones. Reduce their points by 20, and give them a weapons selection like the hammerhead or skyray with a series of 20 point upgrades.
The problem with fire warriors could also be fixed by changing marker lights or the units that shoot them. Make pathfinders BS4 and reduce their points cost. That way a player could bring more and have an improved ability to boost the effectiveness of fire warriors without a direct change to fire warriors themselves.

Fire warriors? Points. 35 US seems standard for troop choices as far as money goes so *shrug.* Cheaper models would be nice. But thats a different topic

Good luck getting GW to make anything cheaper But I disagree on making them BS4. Space marines, who spend decades in training & centuries in battle are BS 4. Tau live shorter than the average Human I can't see BS 4 as justified and while I would love to see it happen from a tactical standpoint I would have to oppose it from a "Does this make any sense" standpoint. But definatly drop the cost a point or two. As for Kroot, the +1 I would be awesome (Maybe up them 1 pt per model?), they're supposed to be very quick & nimble, I read a story in the old codex about a squad of them ambushing & decimating Eldar Pathfinders and perhaps allow them to take the 6+ armor save without a shaper as the shaper itself is an extra 21 points.

I've been playing them since they were introduced to the game and I don't want to see any major changes done to make them over powered, just a little fine tuning as they seem to be a bit below average compared to the others.

I don't think any army is "Over powered" I just think some have a slight edge. The ones that come to mind are GW's love slave the Space Marines, and currently the Imperial Guard and Orks as well. It could be because they got their new codexes recently (Excluding nids) but when I look at who's winning the tournaments I tend to see SM's, IG & Orks near the top more so than any other army.

Space Marines get a new codex & new models more often than anyone else & have been pushed harder than any other army ever. Look at the starter sets, when it was SM & DE you had more DE players, when it was SM & Nid's, the nids got more popular, now it's SM & Orks and I see more & more Ork players. But they always start people with SM's. And yes any player can win with any army but across the U.S. In every tournament I can get a report on, Space Marines, IG & Orks appear in the top 5 more often than any other army so you can't boil that one down to "Well every Tau / Chaos / Eldar / Dark Eldar / Tyranid ect. is doing it wrong"

It's funny I used to play guard and loved being the underdog, and felt dirty playing tau because I thought they were overpowered. My how times have changed. My vote is for Orks as the most overpowered race now. Nob Bikers are just plain broken. Space marine storm shields are about the only thing making them unbalanced. Guard...having all tanks can be hard to beat if you are not expecting it, but if you are it can be easily countered. Off topic, I did play an all infantry list at a tournament last weekend, and although that list usually rocks, I ended up having a win and a draw. But the reason is because the average game length was 2 turns. I was going as fast as I can but having that many models to move and roll dice for is time consuming. There was absolutely nothing my guard could do for the objective missions, so in a tournament you have to go mechanized to be competitive.
Oh and as for tau all I want is more ap2 weaponry.

-Any terrain containing Sly Marbo is dangerous terrain.
-Sly Marbo once played an objective mission just to see what it was like to not meet every victory condition on his own.
-Sly Marbo bought a third edition rulebook just to play meat grinder as the attacker.
-Marbo doesn't need an Eldar farseer as an ally; his enemies are already doomed
-Sly Marbo was originally armed with a power weapon, but he dropped it while assaulting a space marine command squad just so his enemies could feel pain
-Sly Marbo still attacks the front armor value in assault, for pity's sake. |

posted this elsewhere but here goes
General Rules - all marker lights fire at the end of the movement phase before that start of the shooting phase, any model firing a markerlight is considered to have a target lock (only when firing the markerlight) units/models firing markerlights incur no restrictions in the shooting phase for doing so.
Marker light changed to assault 1
Photon grenades- any unit declaring an assault on a unit equipped with photon grenades rolls a D6 and uses the result for their assault range rather than the normal 6"
Seeker missiles - reduced to 5 points, vehicles may have up to 4 per vehicle but each vehicle may only fire 2 per turn.
Ethereal- remove line of sight requirement for moral re-rolls
Crisis Suits- flamers count as power weapons in close combat price increased to 10 points
Vespids- given a 4+ armor save, in assault any roll of a 6 to wound counts as having been inflicted by a power weapon.
Drones- No kill points are awarded for destroyed gun drone squads
Kroot - given a 5+ invul save for superior reflexes, possibly given upgrades options from kroot mercenaries list.
Shaper - access to power weapons
Firewarriors- when squad numbers 12 models given free Shas'ui, bonding knife, and markerlight
Skyray - carries 10 seekers instead of 6, no limits on how many can be launched per turn
Pathfinders - Remove compulsory transport, grant stealth usr, may not fire weapons if they fired markerlights, 18 points instead of 12
Shadowsun - Her Fusion blasters are changed to 18" range (9" for melta) and she makes stealth suits count as scoring units.
Farsight - Crisis teams count as scoring units
Aun'va - no line of sight for moral tests re-rolls confers stubborn USR to all tau models not kroot or vespids reduced to 190 points

Looking through the new Nid codex, I saw quite a few of their shooty units got BS 4, and they have some impressive Str 10, Str 5, Str 6 weapons.
I'd like to see either an across the board BS 4 for Tau, or a combined idea of wolf guard/Alpha Warrior, a squad of sergeants that can divide up and join a FW squad, which uses their BS as long as they are alive.
Reduced costs for many Tau Options, at least Devilfish.
I like the idea of removing the DF requirement from pathfinders and granting stealth. Doesn't help much against whirlwinds/Thunderfire Cannons etc, but better than we have now.
I think granting Tau better offensive CC options is the wrong direction. I *would* like to see something like, Composite Armour: The advanced materials used by Tau Battle Suits can not be bypassed by power weapons or monstrous creatures.
I'd like to see them find a shooting niche for Vespid. I think Kroot work alright as they are currently.
The positive thing is there was lots of Tau details about advancing technologically against Hive Fleet Gorgon in the new Nid codex fluff, and it talked about the iron hammer campaign or some such between the Tau and Imperium, ending with 'But that's a story for another time...'

Tau should be retconned out of 40k for good. They were a shameless and failed attempt to get the Japanese to buy 40k, they took valuable design time and space from Armies that NEEDED it (Such as Chaos, Space Wolves, Dark Eldar, Necrons and the Inquisition) and do not have any place in the 40k universe IMO.

Rules wise, I'm not too sure. I don't play Tau, nor do I play competitively, so my opinion wouldn't be too helpful, IMHO.
However, I want to see more fluff for the Tau concerning expansion. Yes, we understand the Third Sphere was a success, how about starting a fourth?
The Tyranid codex mentions the Iron Hammer campaign, how about expanding on that?
For too long the Tau have been portrayed as the innocent little aliens. I want to see Tau going out of their way to kick ass, not have them "forcibly take up arms against the big, bully races"

No?
Then lets table the topic of squatting existing armies because you don't like them.
I could also do without your over dramatic sweeping generalizations. Businesses try to draw in customers, deal with it. Whilst that is quite masterful trolling, have you considered that some of us non-weeaboos play Tau because we like their play-style (mobile & shooty, but not ridiculously fragile like Eldar or insanely numerous like IG)?
Granted, the main reason I play Tau is because I like the look of the Devilfish and Hammerhead tanks, but I'm not an anime nut, nor a video games person. My limit with Japanese culture is, for better or worse, a good sushi bar.
