Several gaming outlets claim that Space Marine is coming the 26th of March this year. Anybody got anything on this?

All I heard was that it was due in Q1 2010. Sounds like a reasonable date though.

Hmm if they said Q1 then it is most likely coming out in March, but only time will tell.

There's been a sever hush-hush about the whole thing, which is wierd cause THQ are usually so forthcoming with details about forthcoming titles. March sounds hopeful, would be awesome if it was

Unlikely. There's been no info since the trailer. No previews, no hype, no new screenshots. That's very unusual for an action game these days.

Yea don't mean to be kinda a downer but chances are its going to be canceled. Same thing happend with Aliens - Colonial Marines. They had a crap load of info apeared in Game Informer and had trailers then when dark and got pushed back MULTIPLE times.....wish it didn't cause I really wanted that game last year.

That's not being a downer, that's being a realist. I really wanted Colonial Marines too, but after the second push back just gave up on it altogether, then they announced it was done a few months later. The company that was funding colonial marines went down as well.

My only optimism here is that I know THQ and Relic are doing okay right now, however THQ and Vigil are working on a 40K MMO with a tentative release date of 2011-2012, I'm not sure THQ would want to put out 2 40K based games that close together. I would play both though

What if Space Marine is the MMO? What if they've been hiding it in plain sight? It would at the very least solve the balance issues between Spehss Muhren characters and anything else.

Isn't 40k turning 25 next year?

It's not. Space Marine has been an independent project since day one.

I don't know if they should bring out another MMO. They already have WAR out and I've heard not the greatest of things about it. What I think they should do is not make a game that overpowers Space Marines but I'd definetly like to play as a regular joe guardsmen on the front lines. Or a Commissar Bellowing inspirational speaches......but I guess since I don't really have a say in it I just have to ride the ride and hope things turn out for the best........until hopefully I can get some gear to make some productions of my own.

I hope it does come out on the 26th cause that is my birthday. Presents ahoy!

you never know the 40k subject is very restricted to gaming communites. The first time i showed a non 40k playing friend a space marine he asked it they were all guys like Master Chief
They could just be waiting and springing it on us like the (slow as all hell [ha pun :thumbsup] game) The Inferno. True they had promotions months ahead, but i never saw any gameplay until a few weeks before it came out. (i could be wrong, i'm pretty video game ignorrant)

Thats cool and all but who wants to play a suped up space marine? not this guy! I'd personally rather play as a commissar or a guardsmen......much more closer to being human than a space marine.......but I'll still play Space Marine don't get me wrong...I'll play it and probably try not to nerdgasm when it comes out.

Playing as a Space Marine might actually make 'sense' for this type of game, as the damage you inflict and receive (and survive!) matches the fluff for Space Marines nicely.

For some reason though, I kind of doubt the finished product will end up looking that good!

I watched an interview on Youtube the other day on Space Marine, and they said they are still working on it, and it'll probably be the end of this year, but it was an older video so it may be out of date. I know they have Orks (which is all they officially said there will be) but I've seen gameplay video's with Chaos in it.

That would have been the non-THQ game that was being developed before it was canned.

Yea bud the original trailers had chaos EVERYWHERE in the vids.....I remember seeing a vid where all he fought was Chaos Scum.....although it was only human members if I remember right....no Chaos Marines.

Look they're obviously going to have veriety whats the point in fighting the same race over and over again?

Well Slick....just think about how many games feature a real Variety of enemies to slaughter.....not that many. Plus from what I saw from some of the trailers fighting would possibly get old very very fast considering the trailer showed the marine taking on like 30+ orks at a time.

Well yea it does match the "fluff" for the space marine but I'd be happy as a guardsmen and them implement some kind of switch character mode like in Battlefield.......all this Getting shot a thousand times and not dieing is getting very old...unless they have a explanation for it.....like nanobytes reforming lost tissue or something in that area.

Well, to be fair, many other games don't have the sheer variety of Warhammer 40,000. Look at other games - Halo, you fight Covenant and Flood (Some variants, but that's about it). StarCraft, you're pitted against the forces of three different races (Zerg, Terran, Protoss). Both universes only have those forces; 40k, on the other hand, has almost a dozen other xenos/traitor forces that the Space Marines can go up against (Tyranids, Tau, Chaos Marines, Chaos Daemons, Traitor Guardsmen, Orks, Eldar, and Dark Eldar).

My point is, no - you don't fight a variety of enemies in other games. For the most part though, that's because the other games don't have quite as large a universe that 40k does.

Sorry...Battlefield wasn't a good example. I'm talking about reverting back to the old Star Wars Battlefront way.....you have 30 guys.....they die its over. And If you've played Battlefront you'd know that it was pretty amazing for that....cause you could lose everyone and be the last man and have to fight an army by yourself *sigh* Good times. I mean going with the Battlefront way and Having a set number of units.

Gak I keep seeing things I'm not mentioning....but sorry for saying battlefield...I didn't mean that in particular it was just the first thing that came to mind.....Battlefront is a better example.
