I picked up a pair of those Plasma Hatchers to use for Spore Pods (wooo bandwagon!) with the intention of just giving the toys inside to my friend's kid. I got to look at the gooey thing that you put the toy in inside the big egg however, and thought it would make an awesome Tervigon stomach plus birthing opening. The problem is it's a really soft, stretchy sticky rubber material. Anyone have ideas on how it might be made harder and more able to be included in a Warhammer fig, without losing the great surface detail?

You're looking for the vulkanization process:

For non-commercial use, it involves off-the-shelf sulphur and your oven.

*edit* Alternatively, you could always rub it for a while.

I am not familiar with this product at all but if it is soft, stretchy sticky it is likely not a rubber, my guess would be that it is a silicone elastomer. It is also unlikely that regardless of what it is that you can do anything to harden it, much less maintain the detail. If it is silicone it will be pretty much impossible to get anything to stick to it (paint, shellac, etc.) Your best bet would be to use it to make a mold and then cast polyurethane to make the piece.
