Hey Dakka-
Looking for some opinions on HQ choices for 1500 pt Dark Angels. I was leaning toward a Chappy on a bike but wanting to if that translates while into the game.

you doing green wing raven wing or death wing ?

chappys are always good though especially if your using green wing

My tendency to HQs for Dark Angels is Interrogator Chaplains (not to be confused with regular ones). They have an extra wound and better hitting power. I throw it in my assault squad, after giving it a jump pack that is. Ravenwing aren't outfit very well for assaults. You want a chaplain in what ever unit you are going to assault with.

The other HQs that I take are Belial if I'm running a lot of Deathwing. And an Interrogator Chaplain in terminator armor. I love my Deathwing. They combine perfectly with the Ravenwing too. But yeah. Chaplains of the Interrogator Chaplain is my favorite.

Azrael is always bad ass

and sammael is rocking with a plasma cannon toting jet bike (with two many guns for him to be able to use) bp pc and twin linked storm bolters lol

best part though hes the only one immune to instant gibbing

I agree this.

I love sammael on Jet bike looks.
And best part is immune to insta pop.
Most people think sammael best because he can become "SUPER LAND SPEEDER" which have 14 14 10 armor with Twin-Link Assault Cannon/Heavy Bolter
But yeah,12 inch move and shoot plasma cannon is good indeed.
And He is very unique looking....so....I use Jet Bike.

Good because belial's model dosent exist.

Problem is.....He can die so easily.He do insta death.He is just normal terminator with 3 wounds.

I would love to use Librarian but its....well....for fun I assume.

Sammael on his speeder is brilliant (I wiped out 7 deep-striking Bloodletters with one shot from his plasma cannon last night!), but he can die really easily, too -- even massed small arms fire will bring him down pretty fast. You really have to limit his exposure to enemy shooting.

If you're not using Ravenwing or Deathwing as troops, my vote goes for the generic Librarian. Keep him with a shooty squad and you'll see the bodies pile up. Or you could spend the extra 50 points and grab Zeke. Well worth it in my opinion.

Don't underestimate the generic Company Master either. A storm bolter and power weapon is pretty effective for under 130 points.

What kind of list do you plan on running?

I think Ezekiel is worth the extra 50pts thanks to the Fearless he confers, and the Ld10 unlimited range Psychic Hood.

Ezekiel also has the unique psychic power to target individual targets in units. No matter what you choose I'd stay away from the generics that regular marines get. If you are paying the extra points for tactical squads and other things you might as well field the special HQs as well.

My personal preference is an Investigator chaplain or a captain with TH and Storm Bolter.

I will be running a more ravenwing pure army. I just played with the Interragator Chap on a bike and if I had played him correctly would have done some good damage.

So does this mean you're going to be rocking Sammy and a biker Chappy? Which version of Sammy are you planning on using? Can you write up a quick army list to give an idea to what your general army will look like?

Sammael on a Speeder.

One of the best characters in the game. He starts working turn one to influence your game as both a fantastic shooting unit (7 TL BS 5 shots) and as an AV 14 fast vehicle.

In 1500 points he will do more than any other HQ unit.
