What is the length on the Hydra Flak cannon? I'm in the process of scratch built one of my own, and looking at it, I'm afraid I may have made it overlarge.

If you look at the pic of the Hydra, those barrels are as long as the chassis... make them long, they are basicly extended range Autocannons...

This is my conversion of it

Those guns are 3,5" long, just a bit shorter then the chassis. I don't have the FW version, but im guessing its about just as long.

Yours are quit a bit larger, but hey bigger is better

5" might be a little long, however GW weapon sizes are always rather excessive so it probably looks ok as long as the proportions on the tank are ok.

I went for a less ubercalibre approach with 50mm long barrels, but then I'm using a rhino chassis which is a bit shorter than a chimera.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I still need to do some gap filling on the join between the front and rear portions, as well as filling in some air bubbles in the main casting. I'm going to make handles for the rear hatches as well out of paperclip, like I did for the front. The whole shebang is a good weight as well. There's no issue of balance for the guns. I've got the turret post resting in a plug in the rear hull hatch, and I'm debating just gluing the damn thing in there, or finding some way of magnetizing it for greater flexibility (in case I ever wanted to field them as chimeras).

Beyond that, it's all over but the paint job. Do you think these pass the Adepticon scratch build muster?

They lood good but, IMHO, but Vallhallan, they do look a bit thick. Are they extended lascannons?

I based them on the current FW kit, at least on length/thickness. Everyone else's solutions look much more real world, and I'm guessing that once GW pulls their head out of their yin yang and makes a hydra kit, that'll be what they look like. I really like their look.

The land of cotton.

@the OP: While yours looks great and not out of place at all with the GW look, for me I went with a much more subdued look for my Hydra.

I went for a similar one to Flinty.

Another turret by Old Crow.
The Multi-missile turret (with additional 50mm barrels and spare autocannon drums).

That's the turret on the 8 wheeled Claymore (leftmost).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

For a second there, I thought that was one tank.

It's being run by people with short term vision and enough greed to extinguish a sun.

Perhaps they're the C'tan.
