Im thinking of painting my tyranids a snow based scheme. Using the colors Skull white and Ice blue.

What are your thoughts?

Yep, go for it. Behemoth, Kraken and Leviathan aren't the only hive fleets around. I'm looking at the picture section of the codex now and there's a termagant painted in a blue and white scheme. Looks good to me

Tyranids adapt to the World they are on. I you want a Snow based Scheme, go crazy. You have endless possibilites of how to paint them. It's your choice.

Fine with me, but it has of course been done before.

Would you use white bodies and blue carapaces or the other way around? I think bone or grey primer/basecoat, highlighted up to white for the body and the blue for the carapaces would be a pretty fast scheme to paint.

Im thinking about doing blue with white armor. maybe some red for battle detail, like cracks from damage or something like that.

I think the best scheme ive seen so far is the alien one.. Flat black body highlighted to a light grey, then the carapaces gloss black( add a few extra gloss coats to the carapaces only) looks great.

I've wanted to see a white skinned or armored nid with a light blue wash, rather than a solid blue color.

Go for the blue and white, just remember to thin the white paint and use foundation paints if you can, and of course give us pictures.

This would actually be the simplest, and coolest way to do it.

A single, flat color(white primed, then gone over with Astronomicon Grey to really pick out details and get SOMETHING done)--then washed with Asurmen Blue/Leviathan Purple(two traditionally "cool" shades are purples/blues.).

Do the claws and other weapons in an offsetting tone(maybe a dark shade of green like Orkhide Shade or the like to really have a contrast to the lighter body) and go nuts from there.

Yea.. snow nids ftw.

many splinter fleets often develop their own color features. My friends nids are actually a splinter fleet of Leviathan but have a bluish to black streaking over their armor plates with brown under bodies but with small patches of Leviathan body colors shown here and there (the whitish color)

Sound advice there. Also, good plan on this colour scheme, I think it'd be quite stylish

I use a base of regal blue, carapace edges with ice blue and skull white, talons are liche purple and tips of claws and flesh hooks are Squid Pink. Squid pink is from Vallejo's (spelling?) color range. The others are Citadel. I got the idea from Justin Cook's hive fleet Thantanos color scheme.

I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.
