I've wondered, if the Space Marines are the peak of genetic experimentation, why do the Iron Hands replace their body parts with bionics. What would happen with their reflexes and other things if they replace to much of their body with bionics(highest quality bionics increase things like that) and there are rumors that some of them are entirely mechanical.Space Marines are supposed to be a peak of "human"(if they are human anymore),not mechanical.

Well, it's part of the Chapter Cult.
And I'm sure the bionics have zero negative impact on combat effectiveness, or at least the pros outweigh the cons. Plus, it's a rumor that there are entirely mechanical marines. Other chapters are suspicious and wary of the Iron Hands due to their unusual connection with the Omnissah, which is seen as unusual by the other "normal" marines.

Well, no, frankly. As (relative) adherents to the Codex Astartes, they still follow the regular training rules. Plus, they aren't replacing every single scrap of flesh with bionics. The entire chapter isn't full of robots. (yet)

wasn't it because they saw flesh as unpure and uncorruptable (or something down those lines) seeing as they have strong links to the Machine cult
and it keeps in line with the primachs whole Iron hand theme
which begs the question what was the legions name before he killed the metal worm (they couldn't have always have been Iron hands if non of them where metal to begin with)

I wish my lawn was emo...
Then it would cut itself.
In the end, SoB are uppity female canines who enjoy their faith in the emperor so much, I'd say they themselves are no longer truly human. They've given up normal life in exchange to become bolter-bitches. |

The IH see the flesh as weak and may deem it an honor to replace it with tech.
Should not have negative effects on combat effectiveness.
Good question about their name. Maybe if they ever get some spotlight, but looking at the actual SM dex I rather doubt that.

Well, i think as long as they don't have their brains replaced with bionic ones, they are still human. Calgar may be a good example (Ultramarines do follow Codex strictly and yet they have as Chapter Master a guy that's half robot)
And yes, as long as they follow recruitment, training, indoctrination, etc.etc. they should definitely be fine.

I would hazard a guess that they avoid replacing any Astartes specific organs or glands if at all possible. Hands and legs don“t have any those, so replacing them with bionics is not a problem. But removing an organ that, say, monitors the inhuman metabolism of the Astartes would seriously weaken his efficiency ( if not cause a total system shock ). And we know the Iron Hands attitude about efficiency.

Well, if they could replace that then there would be no red thirst or black rage right? or any other problems that are implant-related
oh, and congratulations to me. 100th post

As far as the fluff reads (Iron Hands, Jonathan Green) they see imersion in the bionic as beeing the epitome of creation.
For most of them, being incarcerated in a Dreadnought is the ultimate fate.
They ritually sever their hand upon initiation and retain a bionic as fealty to their Primarch and to the tenets of the Emperor.
