I decided that it was time to design a set of hand to hand weapons as an option for the tau crisis battlesuits mainly for show and secondly because the only tau suit with a decent close combat weapon (who shall remain nameless) cannot be fielded with an army under 1,500pts and who also happens to handicap his army more than aid it. So with a little work and experimentation, the following items were produced:

Now before I hear cries of outrage from fellow tau players arguing "Who would ruin a perfectly good crisis suit for something you couldn't use in your local GW?" Well thankfully all my crisis suits are magnetized along with all the weapons they use so no hassle there.

Here is a small preview of each item on a regular crisis suit:

The claw-like apparatus is made from two target locks stuck together at the base after a few cuts with the old hobby cutter, the blades are junk a friend didn't want after customizing a few metal cadian figures. The small punch-daggers are a single target lock, while the blade is a pair of knives from a space wolf kit with the handle removed and with the back of each blade stuck together. Some might recognize that rune blade coming out of the shield generator as a sapce wolf power sword - well it is.

So there we have a set of Tau Crisis Suit HTH weapons, whether they are power weapons or otherwise is none of my concern at the moment - I made them mainly for the aethetics.

Nice, i especially like the round shield with the blade comming out. Those 'runes' on it make it look very tau'ish.

Cool concept after all in the grim darkness of the far future running at each other screaming is where it is at. Seriously though this is beautifully executed! Great for an Honour Guard of suits. Although I reckon a Power Suit bayonet makes more sense a sort of cross between a normal bayonet and a kopesh.....

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Well like O'Shovah's Doom Blade, all HTH items could be artefacts, which is the reason I chose the space wolf power sword - mainly for the runes. As for the claw-like apparatus, I see no issue in deeming that a lightning claw or power sword. The only items which I believe were supposed to be manufactured by the Tau Empire are the punch blades - the single wide blades attached to a target lock - and all HTH weapons would most likely be created/used in the farsight enclave in following with the mont'ka (sudden strike) aspect of the Tau doctrine.

Sure the claw HTH weapons isn't the most tau looking weapon but it nonetheless fits the appearance/description of an artefact much like the Doom Blade.

I am starting work on a Tau Power Fist by using terminator power fists.
