It seems that, in a year or so, I'll be leaving the wonderful gloom of New England for the bright hot hell of Austin and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what the wargaming scene is like in that part of the world.
Anyone?

I think you're in luck. From what I hear, Austin has an extremely vibrant wargaming scene.

It's funny, I was about to ask the same thing. Next year I am going to college in Austin (St. Edward's for theatre) so I of course I want to have something to do on the weekends.

If I'm not mistaken, the Bell of Lost Souls guys are in Austin. You should be able to find a game somewhere.

I am currently in the Austin area. There are several stores in town. One(BFG) has Thursday night open gaming that pulls in 30-40 every week. They also run a tournament for each of the major systems a month. In addition there are also a couple more tournaments at other stores every month.....and if you don't mind driving an hour or so, you could get to another tournament or two per month. There are atleast 3 GT level events every year that are within a 3 hr drive. Welcome to Texas.

Great gaming, beautiful city, gorgeous girls, great night life, lovely countryside.

If I had to live outside of Cali (San Diego is the greatest city on Earth!! Too bad the damn Chargers choked!) then Austin would be a serious contender on my list of alternatives.

Enjoy the new city!

In the north part of Austin there is battleforge and dragons lair. They seem good but I live in the complete opposite direction and never head up there much.

Kind of cool to see someone who will be going to St. Edwards too. I felt like the only one
