Hey, I'm used to building/painting Necrons so I never really had to worry much about wargear for WYSIWYG people, and I was going to get a couple of metal Furioso dreads for my upcoming army while I still could.

So anyway, I want to give it a flamer instead of a storm bolter, and as near as I can tell that's going to require me filing off the whole thing and adding some sort of flamer. The question is, what should I use? I have a spare heavy flamer from my fiancee's SW termie kit that I think would work, but I have no idea if that would look right.

How do you guys go about changing wargear on metal models?

I dunno if I can justify spending 8+shipping on a bit. Do you think it would look acceptable if I just used some cheaper flamer bit?

EDIT: Actually, the Sentinel flamer bit looks pretty good

Ask a buddy if they have the bit you get them with the normal dread and not every one uses them

Darkest Kent (England)

You could also take off the SB barrel and add the end of another flamer.

Okay, I've been on a bit of a hiatus 2011-14

The original 2ccw furioso had a HF cast onto the arm, so well worth tracking one down on eBay. Otherwise, I've not met anyone who Wysiwyg's so much that they argue over HF/SB on a dread.

Also, I should note that the HF on the new plastic dreadnoughts is actually the same size as a standard flamer, not a HF! Making conversions much easier, as below:

First played 40k during 2nd edition, missed out 3rd and 4th, and haven't played 40k since 5th edition - but still read and occasionally paint
