I was thinking of a SM chapter thats based on japanese warrior culture, if you can help me give me some ideas for them

I've seen it done a few times, some were really good. Are you looking for fluff tips or modeling?

One idea I had was to do an all scout force on the idea that Samurai would have lighter armor, I was going to use Warzone Mishimi models.

Check chapterhouse they have shoulderpads that look like a cross between the standard pauldron and the japanese lobster tail shoulder guards, at least thats what they remind me of.

We have a lot Keisei in history. But almost all are not fight in war. They prove their skills at "Duel".
So its like "Emperor's Champion" or "Sturn Guard" something like that.

BTW,We have a lot war heroes　during "Sengoku Period"

Yagyu Munenori.
He was one of best sword man in edo era.He was Master of "Yagyu-Sinkage ryu"(its one of Way of Sword fight) And He was also politician.
So,He is Swordman-Politician. Sound cool as "Colonel-Commissar" Ibram Gaunt!

The Yamato Sector

Far to the galactic east , 42 worlds, claim a special connection to the Emperor, ruled by the Mikado who's family claims to be directly descended from the Emperor. Worlds ruled by Daimyo who are themselves related to the Mikado.

'Outsiders' (non Yamado humans) confined to asteroid trading posts, not allowed to set foot on the sacred soil of the Yamato worlds.

(basically a 40k version of Edo era (1600s to 1860s) Japan.

Marines there are called Samurai and serve the Daimyo. Lots of internal wars, duels and assassinations. PDFs are known as Ashigaru, marines drawn certain family lines, if you're not in one of those families they won't look at you. Obviously they never take all the males of the family so there are some to continue the line. Other family members become PDF officers, inquisitors, officials etc.

Each clan has its own heraldry, fighting style and colors though the Space Samurai are considered one chapter by the rest of the Imperium. Some clans number in the 100s, some in the 10s, some have splintered, some died out. Constant competition for clan loyalty.

The Shogun is the Chapter Master equivelent and is the one who by diplomacy and force holds the loyalty of the most clans.

Probably use BT codex for them.

The Yamato Sector, Deep in to the east of the galxey, there be Shinigami or as the rest of the galxey know them the angels of death or Space marines.

The sector is ruled under one man, The mikado who claims that his family is descended by the Emperor of mankind but who says this is true. Worlds in the sector are ruled by the damiyo, who are related to the mikado or are put in power by him whice they rule the 42 worlds that lie in Yamato. Most outsiders are not allowed to set foot on the sacred soil of the Yamato worlds only those that show to be friends of the yamato and of the higher powers of the Imperium.

The yamato is fulled with clans, clans on each world fighting and killing for power over one of another, it is a brutal cycle of death and war that has been wage from the dawn of the emperor's light but in that stuggle a race of warriors is born from them, They are called Kensei Legion and they fear no man, xeno, or chaos spawn.

The storie of the chapter is one of Death,Glory,Betrayal, and enlightment. It begans as any chapter has started, with one space marine and his name is Musashi Miyamoto or Lord Emma as most of his brothers call him. He was one of the first space marines in the 15 founding of the blood angels chapter when a baal starship crashed landed on the captial world of yamato called edo, where captain marco of the 4th company of Blood angels meet Musashi as a child, for he was the 50th Mikado's son! After the captain and his company meet the child, musashi showed them to his father to show him of these man of the sky.

One interesting bit of Japanese history was the tension between the Mikado (Emperor) and Shogun(warlord). The Emperor was technically a demigod with divine power but had no armies, no legal power and usually no money.

All the real power went to the Shogun who had armies and vassels. So for a lot of Japanese history you had would-be shoguns marching on Kyoto to beat up the prior Shogun and be annointed by the Emperor as the new Shogun.

You could use some of those MaxMini fallen legionairre heads for the grotesques... It'd be a lot of trimming as the actual helmets are no good, but the faces are.

Also agreed with the above statement, the Chapterhouse lobster-tail pads would be good, as well as the drop-pod sides.

Will this be a scout-heavy army? The loose-fitting clothes would suit, and you could even sculpt in tabis/getas on their feet. That would rule.

I'm thinking;
Mitsurugi from Soul Calibur, Heihachi from Tekken, Samurai Shodown, Onimusha, Bushido Blade and so on.

Meeting the Blood angels part one

The young boy of 15 sun cycles, Musashi saw the great flash of light that came from the sky and the earth shakes beneath his feet as the skyship of unknown design fall 25 feet in front of him.
"we should leave Musashi" said his best friend and his young bride to be Mizuki (Author note: I do not support young or arranged marriage, this is a based on tradtions of royal familys all over asia so don't get mad at me) "Don't be scared Mizuki, I'll be with you, lets go find it" said Musashi with a brave look in his young eyes. "Ok but if we get in trouble its your fault ok" said Mizuki. "ok fellow me" said the young lord of edo.

"Brothers, do you read??" talking on his comm getting worried ever minutes that pasted by without his brothers and crew not calling him on his comm. "By the god emperor DO YOU READ ME!!" he yells into the comm. "Over here brother, The squad is over here" a voice spoke back to him in his comm. "Oh thank the God emperor, meet me 10 feet away from here how" said Marco, happy that he found his squad but how is worried where their at and how their going to get off this world. He runs off to meet up with his squad mates.

It seems you are going to use "Musashi Miyamoto" background.

He is one of best samurai in history. And He is unique samurai. Because he use "Two-Handed" style.
One sword is short. One is long.
He use shorter one like shield.

Also,he always use "Strategic retreat". He often "run" but win later.

He wrote about his life,his way of sword.

because they knew how to put the fear of god in to people by making crazy names for their swords and special attacks

Meeting The Blood Angels Part 2

Captain Marco runs 20 feet away from the crash site to the rest of his squad, he see the same blood red armor that he himself is wearing."Brother Atrhos, hows the rest of the squad?"Said Marco. "Their in good heath, my lord."Said Atrhos looking worried. The captain looks at his brother in arms and sighs "What is the damage brother" Said the captain knowing full well how bad this crash was. "Sir the pilots are dead, They died when we crashed down, one brother is dead, Brother Neros"said Atrhos sadly.
The death of brother Neros was a huge blow to the blood angels fighting spirit, brother Neros was in many battles with the squad, He hold the line by himself on hive world of Lord's peace where a 10,000 chaos cultists and 200 chaos marines of the night lord chapter had taken the peaceful world and try to turn into a rift in the warp so that daemons of the warp can feast on the souls of the citizens of Lord's peace. The 4th company of Blood Angels reach Lord's peace near the end of the great killing of the world's citizens. Brother Neros hold the line by himself to get the last of the citizens out of the warzone and off of lord's peace. After two hours of blood and gore, the chaos whores retreated back to their dungholes and he was reward with the punity seal for his bravery and his strong will.
How he lead dead, killed in the crash to edo's earth."this is a sad day my brothers but don't lose heart, we find the leader of this planet and ask for his help"Yell Marco. The squad of 15 blood angels roared back and started to march with their captian.

Musashi and Mizuki walk deeper into the tengu woods. Musashi wanted to see the great thing that crashed down to the holy soil of edo but Mizuki wanted to turn back. "Musashi, we should get out of here, their might be monsters here" said mizuki. "Don't be a baby, I'm here with you and I got my sword with me nonething can go wrong ok" said musashi knowing that she wants out of this place but he really wants to see what happen deeper in the woods. "You remember the stories, of the tengu"said mizuki fearful at the saying of the name. "Their not real, there just bedtime stories to make kids go to bed"Said Musashi. Suddenly they hear a roar of hunger and lust coming from the bushes in front of them. "wwhat was that??" said Mizuki getting more scared. "I don't know just down move" said Musashipulling out his sword ready to fight what was in the bushes
A feral bird like head come out of the bushes, its face a horrible mix of man and bird, its beak sharp and red with the blood of a freshly killed prey."By the Kami, a tengu!!" screamed Mizuki. "Mizuki be quiet, I think we its next meal" said musashi. The monster leap out of the bushes and started to chased the duo through out the woods. "Stay with me goddamm it!!!"yelled Musashi to mizuki. the creature leap on mizuki from behind and ready to bite her face off. "NOOO!!!" yelled Musashi, cutting the creature with his sword. The tengu scream in pain and anger, it started to attack the young prince.
The prince try to dodge and parry the tengu's mighty claws but he got hit by one of the blows in the arm and falls to the ground. "this is it, I going to die" said Musashi in his mind. The creature leap to tear his prey limb from limb but was stopped by furry of bolter rounds that hit the monster over and over again. The beast was teared apart by the rounds, its lifeless body falling infront of muzashi's feet. "its dead my lord" said a voice from the the bushes that were near the side of musashi. " WHOS HERE!!!" yelled the young prince. "Your saviors little ones" said Captain Marco steping out of the bushes, his armor shining with the sunseting in the background.
