Vs a horde footslogging it, they have to come to me, and every pod contained an Ironclad Dread with a HF and MM, meaning he can hold them down until they break, assuming the scouts were able to take out the Bosspole/Klaw.
Similar idea in most cases, that most of what they can shoot at either has 2+ or 3+ cover saves and is far away, or is these really tempting dreads right dead centre. Other option is with a MotF I can get 6 Ironclad Dreads and do two lines of pods, giving me far more killy zone.
Combie this with a bit of terrain synergy for 'funnels' and I think it might work.
