Ok, most space wolves armies are based in viking/celt lore so i'm wondering about ideas for any ideas for an allied support unit. e.g. SOB, WH, DH, IG etc

IG is the only one I'd see able to be used often in support. Hell, wherever you'll usually see a marine land, the Guard will either be short behind or already fighting the enemy.

Space Wolves are (were?) one of the few Space Marine chapters that really, really give a damn about humanity.

So I'd say IG would be a good place to start...

...if GW let us ally armies! (Other than Inquisitors, of course)

First Battle of Armageddon. The Space Wolves allied with a whole company of Grey Knights. They've actual fought against the Sister of Battle. I'd say DH are a possibility, while WH are a definite negative.

for a viking/celtic space wolves-esque army?

Use the Chaos Demons codex full of Fleshounds as trained wolves and Bloodletters as Marauder/berserker Wolf Cult handler types!
You will get called for cheese but it would look pretty ace imo.
I'd play against it if it was done well.

sopb is a no no, they are solid metal and an absaloute bitch to do anythign with.

guard is easy especialy if you bodge the crapatchans and the marauders together

Are you sure on the sob ? Seraphim could be converted to be valkyries or something maybe?

Well there is a vehicle called the valkyrie. GK termies could be converted to vikings with round hand shields and horns on their helms.

The owner at my FLGS did something cool with this. He made a unit of Future vikings for his RPG Games.

I think they were WH Empire flagellants mixed in with catachan. The WH fig Valten, champian of sigmar could be great for a HQ.

I'm actually planning on doing this myself once i finish my SM army. These guys came out real nice.

1) Go and play "Too Human" on the 360.

2)Take the ideas from there, with the 'Gods' like Baldr being your Space Wolves.

The best way is not cheap that is using scouts as vets with carapace armor. Use the wolf scout heads put them in valks with wolf iconography ect.

how do you differentiate those guys from the armies regular scouts?
Are SM scouts about the same build as IG?

The paint Paint the armor Grey but the cloth black
