PP posted a new PDF for Hordes MkII models on 1/29. It looks like they definitely made some major changes to certain things. Personally the beasts in my Legion army with serpentine got a buff since serpentine prevents them from being knocked down now. The other big thing that I like is that Vayl's Oraculus is now auto-hit so she can basically channel through any model on the table. Of course most enemy models will be facing my way but if I can sneak up and use something in the second rank I could arc into the front rank of models.

Both Kayas have joined Morvahna on shelf duty. Sentry Stones and Reeves are also still there, while the Ravagers return to the shelf after a very brief tour of duty.

There was a lot of nerd rage over in the circle forums because of this. People destroying models nerd rage. Personally I think most of the circle stuff wasn't really nerfed, just brought down from overpowered to viable. For example, pKaya can't attack after spirit door, and only living warbeasts get the pack hunters boost. But really, doing a feat turn assassin run with Kaya after running a warpwolf in WAS overpowered, and +2 MAT to every warbeast was a bit much. (plus it didn't fit her fluff well. Baldur is the one that gets buffs with Constructs.)
Ravagers with a Shaman lost Gang, but got Brutal Charge. So now on the charge they get +2 to hit and +2 to damage. Makes them a bit weaker, but I think they were a bit too strong before.
Woldwatcher needing to be forced for Stone Form isn't too bad considering I usually keep fury on them anyways.
Pureblood Warpwolf got a nasty spray attack. I'd actually field one now.
I like the current mix of spells Kromac has. A low end version of mage blight (better, it blocks channeling too), a nice unit buff spell, a great spell for a warbeast, and Warpath can move up a lot of beasts in one turn. And by turn 2 he can have his 3 upkeeps going, and then spam Beastial every turn.
Minion warbeasts still have that terrible companion rule. Until they get rid of that, they will never be worth taking.

pKaya now doesn't do anything except yoyo a Warpwolf if someone's stupid enough to give it something to charge. Her feat is useless since she has no spells to spend the Fury on, and she's not getting into melee, is she? Like someone said, she was a one trick pony and PP killed her pony.
It's amazingly slowed that they made such a huge change out of the blue after the chance to playtest it was already over.
Ravagers are (again) the weakest and squishiest heavy infantry in the game after they make their one charge attack.
Circle is looking like 3rd ed. Eldar right now. Half the models will never get fielded, the other half can still make a top tier army.
Considering that in both WM and Hordes the trickiest faction got hurt the most, I guess there were a lot of "lowest common denominator" people (the ones who couldn't add up to 500, so we had to change the points costs to something they can count on their fingers) submitting feedback that these factions are too hard to beat.

The field test is what got them to these changes. And it's still a field test, nothing is final until it's in print.

Ravagers are improved over their MkI incarnation and are unchanged from the Beta. I was hoping that the Shaman would get some sort of blood token manipulation ability when gang was removed, the Shaman is over costed.
Why did Kaya swap Splinter for Glimmer? A weapon that does something for one that doesn't. +1 POW does not trump crit knockdown. Both Kaya's need work.
The Sentry Stone is still the most useless model in the army.

I figure that if they released an update already that they will likely post another one before it goes gold (especially based on the number of updates issued during the actual field test period).

Actually, this is supposed to be final (though who knows) and what they'll do is take down the
pdfs once they're ready to distribute the actual printed cards.

It's all good over in Legion Land. Vayl got fixed and everything else got a bit stronger.
I love blighted ogrun and they fixed them all. pThagrosh got better, the warchief got better, the warmongers lost abomination and got terror, so my shepherds won't cower in fear now.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better. |

Actually Jason Soles said that they'd release at least one more update before the rules go to print.
You can find it here.

Trolls are much better now.
Madrak is a melee beast, Doomie got back his upkeep powers (which makes him much better), Keglayer is a monster now, party foul is back. Awesome. Grim can stop stealth while moving, and marked for death is awesome. Fenblades are worth taking now, regardless of whether the foe has cav. I think the nerfs to the axer and mulg are fair enough, as they were pretty much auto includes before.
Legion look to have done well- Thag is mental for a 5 pointer (7 fury, amazing stats, good spells?) and apparently he can now spawn Typhon! Nasty.

Thanks for that! I don't read every thread in the doom forums these days.
