Anyone else watch them? My thoughts...

Gaga was amazing as usual. I didn't expect her to win any awards on the air, though she won two off. Live performances... Zac Brown Band, Black-Eyed Peas, Bon Jovi and Dave Matthews were ok. Everyone else left a bad taste in my mouth. All of the rap collaborations (including the one where Slash randomly showed up) were a hot mess. Taylor Swift needs to go away. QUICKLY. She was clearly flat multiple times in her performance with Stevie Nicks and IMO Kanye gave her enough sympathy points at the VMAs to win what she did at the Grams. Kesha talking was painful, even if it was jsut a sentence or two. She seriously sounds like she was the head of her class at the school for the deaf. The president of recording-something-or-other complaining about how piracy will make it so that music quality will go down was both painful and laughable. I wrote the following on another forum shortly after the show:

"After watching the Grammy's I felt like there should have been one more award. Picture the scene:

The grey-haired president of recording blah-blah-i'mohsoselfimportant-society steps back out. He gives another quick jab at music piracy (while looking suspiciously like Michael Gross from Family Ties) and announces that this year they wanted to do something special. Everyone gasps when the award show wondrously isn't over as he begins to introduce the surprise category, "Most innovative song of the year." He starts out in low voice, growing to the point of booming, "And the winner for most innovative song of the year is... Mary had a Little Lamb!" Eyes wide open, mouths agape, people stand in shock then all simultaneously realize what bs the grammy's really are. kthx."

The high points for me were (afore mentioned) Gaga's duet with Elton John, Stephen Colbert winning a Grammy and being hysterically out of place, the Lonely Island being nominated alongside Jay Z, Kanye and many other "actual" rap artists and Carlos Santana being there at all. Thoughts?

Worship me.

Sorry, But "Gaga" is a freakshow and the Jury is still out on if "She" is really a "he".

That is all.

The jury was out on whether Micheal Jackson was a black, male, human or a white, asexual, robot but that didn't stop him from being a successful singer.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

I watched the south bank show awards instead, which were infinitely better and had lacked the infinite amount of bs which the Grammys guarantee.

I think I was watching... oh like it ing matters. You couldn't pay me to watch another entertainment industry masturbation session "awards show." The last time I heard someone play something worth listening to and win an award for it was never.

Yeah, i mostly agree with Tyyr. If i wanna die of boredom i watch The Grammy's. Or most of the other award-giving show out there. I'd rather watch the news later and see who won what. IMO it's just a couple of hours of wasted life.

However, under the right circumstances (4-5 friends and a ton of beer) i could watch it and even find it not that bad...

Could you be there

'cause I'm the one who waits for you

Or are you unforgiven too?

Unless I had drunk myself into a coma, i will not watch any awards shows. Like I said, drunk into coma.

As in, my liver decides to close up shop and build a liquor store there to cut out the middle man drunk.

And even then, I would prolly try and change the channel.

When I was at school my homosexual friends would have awards show parties that were pretty entertaining. Lots of booze, and mockery directed at the behavior and dress of celebrities.

No offense intended. I'm simply a large fan of unintended subversion. Its the hipster in me.

None taken skip. Though as a would be Stand Up Comedian (about to arrange my second gig) it's as much a place to test my vitriolic material as anything serious.

Plus it's all about those with wholly inexplicable levels of fame!

You should watch as much of The Hills as possible.
