The army I am currently beginning is an army consisting of guard infantry that count as fire warriors, and tau battlesuits and vehicles converted to look more human-made, but still futuristic. The problem I am running into is converting the guardsmens' lasguns to make them look more futuristic and fit in with the tau technology. I am shortening the barrels and using the front parts of the lasguns as scopes, the problem is the hands that are attached to the guns limit anything more complicated from being added to the bottoms or sides of the guns , any ideas how to remedy this? Are their any guard sized detached hands I can buy, or is their some trick to converting lasguns that I have yet to realize.

Its hard to detach the IG infantry hands from the lasguns without chewing up the weapon. I was after a different weapon look for my infantry so I picked up some after-market weapons from Hasslefree Miniatures. There are a number of other companies that do them as well and they are pretty cheap. If you don't have to keep the lasguns pristine it allows you to make an endless supply of free hands, as long as you have a sharp knife and a pin vice
