So my gaming group is starting a 'fun'/'fluff' 1000 point campaign. Last night was our first round of games.

Ordos Xenos archival reference Alpha 32.10B. Report of Inquisitor Xsis Fabriche.

The xenos mind is inscrutable, but not complex. May the emperor forgive me for blurring this distinction.

The destruction of inquisitorial strike force Tiger Team One has been traced to a group of Ork 'freebooters' operating in the Crimson Marches sector (grid reference X34b.Y89h.Z12c). Ork 'freebooters' are distinguished from typical orks by a willingness to trade with other races and a behavioral pattern that seeks material gain in addition to the gratification of the typical ork lust for battle. This particular band is led by an ork that calls itself Angus the Big Mek. It refers to its band as the 'Glory Stompas.' Big Meks are the most technologically gifted of all orks. They are able to construct walkers and weapons of extreme power such as the Shokk Attack Gun. This particular Big Mek has a penchant for walkers and has assembled a "Dread Mob" comprising several dozen of the contraptions.

The so-called Glory Stompas operate as a mercenary band, of which many exist in the Crimson Marches (see Ordo Hereticus report reference Magenta 23.10a). When not on a paying job Angus leads the Glory Stompas in search of technology with which to bolster his Dread Mob.

------Game 1 vs. the Lettow-Vorbeck Splinter

Following the destruction of Hive Fleet Schlieffen over Marne III in M41.234, individual bio-forms bearing the distinctive drab colouration of the Fleet have been sighted on worlds throughout the sub-sector (see appendix A: pict-casts 101-202). As the Storm Hammers chapters and Taskforce 314 have been re-assigned to combat the greater threats approaching from the fringe, few resources are available to counter this potential threat (see Appendix B: Imperial depositions - Tanzi sub-sector). The cleansing operations undertaken on worlds assaulted by the Hive Fleet have not, as previously thought, eliminated all Tyranid lifeforms. Smaller groupings continue to operate an almost guerrilla-like campaign, which indicates the presence of higher-order bio-forms. The only flash of hope is that the cautious tactics of the splinter-groups indicates that they are not yet capable of generating sufficient strength to meet PDF forces in open battle.

HQ: Hive Tyrant (Wings)
Elite: 3 Hive Guard
Troops: 10 Genestealers
Troops: 10 Genestealers
Heavy: 1 Carnifex
Heavy: 1 Carnifex

Seeking to control four deposits of analonium Angus' Glory Stompas and the Tyranids of the Lettow-Vorbeck Splinter met in a pitched battle. Of note was the destructive power of the three Hive Guard, which destroyed approximately six killa kans. Ultimately, however, the Glory Stompas were too numerous. Powerklaws and rokkits dispatched the carnifexes. The Genestealers were outnumbered 3 to 1 by boyz and only managed to establish a 2 to 1 kill ratio. The battle was a short and bloody affair and ended with the Orks in control of one deposit of analonium while the remaining deposits were unclaimed.

Game 2 vs. the Birds

This particularly player has not generated his 'fluff' yet.

The parasite of Mortrex

15 hormagaunts-toxin
15 hormagaunts-toxin

5 ymgarl genestealers

2 lictors

12 Gargoyles- toxins

12 Gargoyles- toxins

1 Harpy - venom cannons and spinebanks

A second Tyranid horde sought to take control of the analonium deposits and met the Glory Stompas in a spearhead battle. With barely hardened carapaces it was clear that this particular tyranid horde is recently spawned and has yet to gain the experience of battle. Three grotzooka-equipped killa kans eliminated all of the hormagaunts, the Harpy (killed instantly by a DCCW), and a few ripper swarms. Two waves of gargoyles, a half dozen ripper swarms, and a lictor proved incapable of defeating a dug in thirty-strong squad of boyz.

That poor guy's second list, and diving his harpy into dreads :(. Orks low point cost make them very deadly in smaller games. The nid players need some venomthropes

And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.

Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole

20 gargoyles with toxin sacs and adrenal glands are worth their weight in gold in my mind.

160 points for jump infantry, they have taken out nurgle princes in one round of combat after charging.

Pink and silver mech eldar- suckzorz
Hive fleet - unstoppable
09-10 tourney record (small 10-20 person events)- 24/4/1

A Tervigon or two might help the nids to overcome the Orks number advantage... or not havent faced orks with new nids yet.

9 killa kans @ 1000pts is pretty cheesy. He had nothing that can deal with them...absolutely nothing.

Agreed. The gaming group reflected on the failure to distinguish between 'fluff' and 'fun' (non-competitive). The problem with tervigons is that they are vulnerable to the Nob PK buried in the 29 boyz but it would be a good multi-turn tarpit.

Tervigons can also be used to give toxins to gaunts are a number of psychic powers most notably catalist, which should help regular gaunts to deal with te orks and their nob.
