He guy's,
I want a very basic allround Wolves army but I'm stuck what to do with it.
Til now I have the following:
For the objective holding and firesupport
5 Greyhunters, 1 plasma gun <-- Razorback is there but I dont know what weapon to mount
1 Wolfguard, power weapon, stormbolter
5 Greyhunters, 1 plasma gun <-- Same Razorback problem
1 Wolfguard, power weapon, stormbolter
For the unaspecting dropping and assaulting
9 Bloodclaws, droppod
1 Wolfguard, power weapon
9 Bloodclaws, droppod
1 Wolfguard, power weapon
For the more controlled assaulting
9 Bloodclaws with Jumpacks <-- Put a wolfguard in it or a HQ????
Dont know yet, but probably to close a flanking side or so
10 scouts, 4 boltguns, 1 heavy bolter, 5 boltpistols and CC
1 Dread <-- could be converted to Bjorn?
Firepower
Vindicator
Longfangs, 2 missile launchers, 1 heavy bolter, plasma cannon
Now the problem is what kind of Leader to use?
Does someone use the Bjorn dread? or the Canis on wolf guy?

I would look into some MotW and Wolf Standards for the Grey Hunters
Grey Hunter would work better in the Pods than Blood Claws
You can't use Wolf Guard with the Scyclaws, so go with a Wolf Lord or Wolf Guard Battle Leader
I would either go with All Bolt Guns or All Bolt Pistols with the Wolf Scouts
Bjorn Rocks and is virtualy unkillable

Not a ton of anti tank. No hq. What point size were you playing at? I'd stay away from the unique characters as they tend to cost a lot. If you go without them you can fit in more of the regular stuff. I'd go to the full 10 skyclaws. Maybe pair them with swiftclaws.

This is what I came up with
The Lord goes with the skyclaws and the Wolfguards are divided between the troop units. I gave the Razorbacks lascannon for the tankbusting.
Till now I have 1435 Points....
Any suggestions and please give a reason why I should chance something.
Testgames are beeing played tonight
1x Wolf Lord, Bolt pistol, Frag&Krak, Power weapon, Jump pack 140
4x Wolf Guard, Bolt pistol, Frag&Krak, 4xPower weapon, 2xStorm bolter 108
1x Dreadnought, CC weapon, Multi melta 105
5x Grey Hunters, Bolt pistol, Frag&Krak, CC weapon, Boltgun, Plasma gun 85
1x Razorback, Smoke launcher, Searchlicht, Twin linked Lascannon 75
5x Grey Hunters, Bolt pistol, Frag&Krak, CC weapon, Boltgun, Plasma gun 85
1x Razorback, Smoke launcher, Searchlicht, Twin linked Lascannon 75

1x Drop Pod, Storm Bolter 35
9x Blood Claws, Bolt pistol, Frag&Krak, CC weapon 135

Good to have a power weapon with the wolf lord. I used saga of the warrior on mine last weekend. Got 20 kills in the one game because of it. Might work good for you as well. Drop pod for the dreadnought would be good. Would let you put down 2 drop pods on turn 1. The more units that deep strike on one turn the greater chance they will survive. Skyclaws look good. I usually keep them with no upgrades like you have. I'm not going to shoot them and they don't need much upgrading to be effective. The troop selections look like they should work good. Standard can be nice, but I don't always like that it's just once a game. A melta instead of plasma for a grey hunter? Dunno though. Plasma worked good for me last game. I'd think it would work pretty good as is though. Good ability to close with the enemy and dish out some punishment to the enemy.

Thx for the comment.
The only part that has me thinking is "Do I need those Wolfguards?"
Is it maybe better to drop them and take a second HQ and two smaller Skyclaw unit to put my HQ in?

Skyclaws aren't as effective as regular space marine assault squads. I'd keep them with as many models as you have models for and not split them up. I come out to 118 for the listed Wolf Guard not 108. But I'd keep them. It is oddly cheaper for a wolf guard with power weapon than it is for a grey hunter with power weapon. But then if you took a 10th grey hunter you would get a second special weapon for free. So I guess it depends on how much you want that extra special weapon and if you have the extra points.

He guy's,
I changed the list.
For me the Bloodclaws didn't work beeing dropped in turn one in enemy lines not able to assault and beeing shot to pieces.
So I changed them to Greyhunters.
Still have a few points left......
Wolf Lord Bolt pistol, Frag&Krak, Power weapon, Jump pack 140
Dreadnought Multi melta, CC weapon, Smoke launchers, Searchlight 105
Grey Hunters Pack Bolt pistol, Frag&Krak, CC weapon, Bolter, Power weapon, 2x Plasma gun 175
Drop Pod Storm bolter 35

Much more better. Shift some plasmaguns to meltas.
Lord could take more powerful weapons.
If your dread stand with your gunlines, take long-range weapon like TL-autocannons.
2 droppods...so only 1 at 1st turn. If you take 3 you could have 2 available at turn 1.

He Guy's
After playing a few games with my army I made some chances to my list.
I also still have a few questions for you Wolf players out there.
I Still have an Dread waiting for playing time. take this over something else?
Should I put in another HQ to go with the Skyclaws? do I take the full 10 or split them in 2 units'
If I take the Wolfclaw (20 points) for my HQ are those 2 pieces or just one?
HQ
Name Weapons / Options Points
01 Canis Wolfborn Wolf claws, Frag/Krak, Wolftooth necklace, Wolftail talisman 185
I really like this model so I have to have it in my army......
Elite
Name Weapons / Options Points
05 Wolf Guard Terminator armour, Stormbolter, Power weapon, Power fist 175
Give them an Assault Cannon? Best ways to use them???
Troops
Name Weapons / Options Points
01 Wolf Guard Bolt pistol, Frag/Krak, Power Weapon 38
05 Grey Hunters Bolt pistol, Frag/Krak, CC Weapon, Bolter, Power fist, Mark of the Wulfen 115
01 Razorback Twin Linked Heavy Bolters 40
193
Name Weapons / Options Points
01 Wolf Guard Bolt pistol, Frag/Krak, Power Weapon 38
05 Grey Hunters Bolt pistol, Frag/Krak, CC Weapon, Bolter, Power fist, Mark of the Wulfen 115
01 Razorback Twin Linked Heavy Bolters 40
193
Mainly for assaulting !!!!
I was lacking any real punch with my Grey Hunters in the Razorbacks, after beeing attacked by Deamon princes or Dreads I figured I need a Powerfist.
I also give them the Mark for extra attacks en the Guard the Frost weapon for the extra strengt, don't know if it helps......
Name Weapons / Options Points
10 Grey Hunters Bolt pistol, Frag/Krak, CC Weapon, Bolter,2 Plasma Guns 160
01 Rhino 40
200
Objective claiming firepower who can stand an assault or two....
Fast Attack
Name Weapons / Options Points
10 Skyclaw Pack Bolt pistol, Frag/Krak, CC Weapon, Jump pack, Power Fist, Mark of the Wulfen 220
There were needed, killing units who hold objectives? helping Canis?
Heavy Support
Name Weapons / Options Points
04 Long Fangs Heavy Bolter, Lascannon, 2 Missile launchers 110
01 Squad Leader Bolt Pistol, Frag/Krak, CC Weapon 15
125
Give them transport or just keep them far away sniping at vehicles or characters? I'm still thinking about replacing the Heavy Bolter with an other Lascannon, but having no "normal marines" to take away when beeing shot is very expensive....
Name Weapons / Options Points
01 Vindicator Demolisher Cannon, Storm bolter, Smake Launchers 115
In every game I played really really good at doing its job, I wasnt sure about the 24" range but it works out very fine.

If you buy the Wolf Claws for your H.Q., the points listed are only for a single Claw. So if it says 10 points that means you have to pay 20 points for the pair.
If you want to put an H.Q. with the Sky Claws, I would put a Wolf Priest in the squad as he gives the unit Preferred Enemy. Other H.Q.'s can work; however, I prefer the Wolf Priest with any Claw units just for the re-roll and the Fearless :-).
With your mobility, I would say leave the Dreadnought at home, he'll just be a slow moving target and slow moving targets are usually the dead ones.
Overall, I think your list is okay.
Changes:
1) Change the Lascannon and Heavy Bolter for 2 more Missile Launchers. They are more cost effective for their ability to fire in 2 modes.
2) If I am not mistaken, you have 5 Wolf Guard in Terminator armor...that are foot slogging...BAD idea...leave those puppies at home and replace them with more Long Fangs or that 2nd H.Q..
The plasma in the Rhino is kind of iffy, I would personally go with Melta Guns; then again, if you see a Land Raider, all you have to do is destroy the rest of the army and soak the Land Raider in Missiles...after 8-16 missiles I don't think you'll have to worry about that much longer. Not to mention you can always toss the Vindicator after the Land Raider...
I think you already know to keep Canis behind the Rhino/Razorback wall so he doesn't get shot to death and just be smart about what unit to charge him into. Don't charge him into poisoned genestealers! Charge him into 30 Boyz and watch as those fearless wounds turn that mob into a small group by the 2nd round of combat!

so that would be 40 points then? thats a lot !!!!!
then its really better to take the Priest with the power weapon and all.....
Ok , dread goes in when I play 2000 points then.
But isnt it possible to deep strike the termis? say like some where in the middle of the enemey lines so they have trouble from both sides coming

Hey there, Just started play'n wolfs my self so I'm no expert but I will say the priest w/ the skyclaws works great vs. the lord imo. He may not bring the stats like the lord, but his Oath of war, fearless and saga of warrior make the unit itself a something mean. I used him with 10 skyclaws with a PF and MotW with very good results against my brothers chaos nurgle army. Just like anything just be careful on who you let them loose on. Wish i had the transports you have, for now I'm footslogging it but my make up of my Grey Hunters is 10 w/ PF, MotW, and 2 special weapons and they always do well. GL and thanks for your updates as I'm taking notes on whats working for ya.

He Guys,
Been a while.....
Still have a few questions for al the SW players out there
I was thinking of converting my Canis miniature in an normal Lord on a Thunderwulf, giving him a frostblade and a maybe a nice 10 fenrisian wolves unit?
I also dropped al the Droppods in my list ( LOL), and switch to 2 units of 6 greyhunters in razorbacks. I also was thinking about 15 hunters in an redeemer together with a wolfguard and a priest. Just to drive up close and jump out to attack anything that moves.
I now have 2 units of longfangs with 4 misile launchers.
I'm still not convinced about my Skyclaws, I now have a unit of 5 with a priest, do I need to go for 10 models?
I also keep wondering why everybody takes Wolfguards in every possible unit, ok they give an extra attack, but my 2 gryhunter units in razors are to rush of for objective holding, do I need them?
Does anyone use scouts or termis?
Automatically Appended Next Post: So this is what I came up with, total of 1716 points.
1 Wolflord Boltpistol, Frost Blade, Thunderwulf, Wolftooth Necklace Does it work?
1 Battle leader Boltpistol, Frost Blade, Jump Pack Goes with the Skyclaws
1 Battle leader Boltpistol, Frost Blade Goes with Hunters in the Rhino
1 Dreadnought Assault Cannon
5 Grey Hunters Boltpistol, Bolter, Meltagun, Wolf Standard Objective capturing?
1 Wolf Guard Combi-Melta, Power Weapon
1 Razorback Twin Linked Lascannon
5 Grey Hunters Boltpistol, Bolter, Meltagun, Wolf Standard Objective capturing?
1 Wolf Guard Combi-Melta, Power Weapon
1 Razorback Twin Linked Lascannon
8 Blood Claws Boltpistol, Bolter, Meltagun, Wolf Standard Assaulting with Battle leader
1 Wolf Guard Combi-Melta, Power Fist
1 Rhino
10 Fenrisian Wolves Goes with Wolflord, does this work?
9 Sky Claws Boltpistol, Meltagun, Power Weapon
5 Long Fangs 4x Missile Launcher
5 Long Fangs 4x Missile Launcher
1 Vindicator
Still have 5 Terminators with all weapon options, 10 scouts and a few Grey Hunters.
