Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

Hey folks!

I have a couple of questions - I've been playing a certain way for a long time, but wouldn't mind input on a few things here:

Situation: An Ork Big Mek with a Kustom Force Field is in a battlewagon. To the left and right of the battlewagon are two more battlewagons. To each side of that...a trukk. IE:

Trukk - Battlewagon - Battlewagon(KFF) - Battlewagon - Trukk

Question #1: The new Tyranid codex has a unit called "Hive Guard" that have STR8 AP4 Assault2 weapons that ignore intervening terrain and specify that units don't get cover from intervening terrain, only for being in terrain. How do you think this pertains to a KFF, which brings mobile obscurity with it?

Question #2: The Big Mek creates a 6" bubble around it. Vehicles in the bubble get the obscured status. Exactly how would you work this out?
Part A.) Do you measure the Big Mek's control radius from the hull of the vehicle he's in? If not, why not? How do you tell where a model is inside a vehicle?
Part B.) What part of a vehicle needs to be within that 6" to get obscured status? What if the facing being fired at is within the bubble? (TLOS for determining if vehicles get cover, not 50% rule) How would you sort this out?

Hive Guard do not ignore cover saves, it only prevents cover saves from intervening terrain being taken. Cover saves from KFF, Smoke Launchers, Ork Warbikes etc. are all able to be taken.

Part A) Page 66 of the BRB in the embarking rules, the part about measuring an effect from an embarked model.
Part B) Any part of the hull. If ANY part is within range of the KFF, the vehicle is obscured, no matter what facing is fired at.

Gwar! is right.

As is so often the case.

I almost always agree with Albatross, I can't see why anyone wouldn't.

Okay, so the male version of "Cougar" is now officially "Albatross".
