Subject: What's up with the Battletech intro boxed set? Is it OOP or what?

So I checked out the Catalyst website and seems like the current run of boxed sets is sold out? Does anyone know if (and when) they plan on doing another run, or is the Battletech intro boxed set actually out of production now? I had heard rumors about an anniversary boxed set, and also rumors of an upcoming Clan boxed set. Does anyone know if these are still being released and when they might be coming out?
Should I try hard to dig up one of the boxed sets or should I just wait for the next print run?
Any info is appreciated!
Thanks,
Hordini

My understanding is that the Classic Battletech starter set is indeed OOP because Battletech is reaching its 25th anniversary.
Catalyst is redoing the Classic Battletech starter and will re-release it with a special edition mech (it was unclear to me what the mech was, what faction it was for, and whether it was plastic or metal (or both), in addition to the 24 plastic mechs that are currently in the box.
So, if you can find the old set, its worth buying for the mechs alone. If not, don't pay the stupid prices on ebay or amazon, because it will be re-released.
Hope that helps.

should be soon, catalyst website still says Q1 2010. the new clan box set got delayed because of an issue with one of the reseen mechs. as far as the other box set, i just think theyre behind on printing more. i bought one earlier this year.
if youre eager to get started, you can download the introductory rules and information form this page. they have cutout mechs that you could use if you dont mind them for the time being.

The 25th Anniversary Intro Box was supposed to replace the old one. It comes with 2 "higher quality" plastic 'Mechs in addition to the original 24 in the old box.
This was supposed to be released last year with the other 25th Anniversary stuff, but the Unseen Issue seemed to be a problem with units involved, so it was pushed back.
As has been said, it is slated for a 1st Quarter release, so it should be out reasonably soon.

You actually need to go through the whole shopping process for a free PDF?
