Thinking of trying Dark Heresy/Rogue Trader for the first time in the next few weeks and was pondering on some good stories/plot. In my case it will be based around a two player game as thats all I have atm, but if anyone else would like to share ideas as inspiration for me or others it would be most appreciated.

As to my idea atm, I'm thinking of a longterm storyline. A character starting on a Hive world, a ganger, or low life who has some basic skills in staying alive, but isn't top of food chain or anything. The story would progress aloing normal day to day things, and slowly a Bounty Hunter would come into play, over a number of games it would become apparent he/she is after the main character for no apparent reason.

A nemesis situation devolps between the main character and this Bounty Hunter, the character managing to get away from several encounters while the game carries on as normal (this could potential last months,) until the character finally discovers the Bounty Hunter has been hired by a Rogue Trader family to collect her as she is a blood relative. At this point the story can devolp in a number of ways, the avoidance can continue, she can be captured, go willingly and the bounty hunter turns out to be a member of the family (maybe ends up a loyal ally.)

At the point she goes with them, the game shifts to her finding out about family, the fact she is due to inherit a ship from her dead father, and is helped with the training involving in becoming a Rogue Trader herself. Its quite possible she may end up serving as a secondary character with a relative before eventually gaining her ship, and then the game shifts into full Rogue Trader level.

That may or not be a great game, it seems to have the epic feel I look for in many of my RPG's, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas they could add, or as I said above would just like to share.

This sounds quite distinctly RT, because in DH it is all about the inquisition.

Some DH themes that I have had success with:

My brother's keeper: Twin psykers separated at birth. One of the PCs is the "Good" psyker, the "bad" one is a NPC arch nemesis to the group. The good one is charged with bringing this tainted psyker in, or ending him.

The four-armed god: Genestealer infestation. Always a tough fight, and hard to completely dig them out.

Malefic Pact: A chaos worshiper made a pact with a daemon, and now demonic forces are pouring through a weakened spot in the warp. Banish the daemon that has the pact, and you may have a shot at restoring the balance.

There are a million more easy plot hooks for DH. Your idea is definitely a good idea for a long term campaign, but you will need to make the rivalry between the group and the bounty hunter really intense for it to keep it interesting.

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

I'd love to help, and post up the big 5 Act campaign idea, but everyone in our group reads these boards, so they'd see the ending.

Sorry I can't say much more than that.

Aye Fox, the long term goal is to be playing a Rogue Trader game.

Also tbh without a group an inquistor team is not going to work, so Dark Heresy is never going to be used as suggested. I see the rules as a vague set of guidelines rather than something I need follow, the lower lvls source book if you will.

Oh and no worries H.B.M.C, I can understand that, had a similar problem on the White Wolf forums years ago.
