The guy who sits opposite me at work reckons that everybody in the UK over the age of 30 has been to the seaside/coast at least once in their lives.
I think he's wrong and think there are plenty of people who never leave their towns, let alone find their way to the coast.
Anybody care to assist?

I expect there are poverty-stricken people on sink estates who haven't gone to the seaside.

Me, I've always lived on the coast (hell, most of our cities are located on the edge of the continent as the inside is all desert).
On the other hand, I have no driving need to travel deep into the dead heart to look at a red rock.

So true. I've been up and down the UK, Europe, parts of the Pacific...yet I've never been inclined to visit Uluru or Western Australia. It's one of the big problems our countries tourism industry is facing, we all want to go overseas!

You brighten my life like a polystyrene hat, but it melts in the sun like a life without love, and I've waited for you so I'll keep holding on without you.

This was my argument.
As for not visiting places which are on your doorstep, I can't think of many examples but I keep meaning to visit the small castle in Winchester (where I lived for twenty odd years... the city, not the castle), but never seem to get round to it.

I dislike sea,I would never live on coast of some sea,but instead I would like to live on the coast of some river or freshwater lake.
