Now all you IG player might know the old Chimera just had a circle thingy were you put the turret in as you may notice the new one's don't. By doing this you cant place the FW turrets like the HB, Auto Cannon Or Heavy Flamer turret's on the Chimera. This bringing up another point, Will there be new FW Chimera turrets?

Only experiances modellers should be buying Forgeworld stuff and anyone buying resin knows some hacking and whittling is par for the course, they might update them in time but there's no reason to rush when the conversion still seems fairly straightforward.

This is why I'm glad I don't need any more Chimeras, and also that I can still use my FW turrets.

Seriously - if you're an advanced enough modeler to purchase and deal with FW models, then you can convert a fix for this easily enough with a piece of plasticard.

I thinkn his point is, you shouldn't have to be an advanced modeller just to put together a basic tank with an alternative turret sold by the same freakin' company.

After all, we all know that the only reason they really changed the Demolisher and Chimera turret rings is so that they won't be backwards compatible and everyone will have to buy new toys. And yes, I really do think that, and that it was an intentional marketing ploy.

The new chimera that is upcoming will have options for multi-laser, a HB, and a HF turret. No autocannon option, but don't believe that is an option for a chimera now anyways.

You cut a quarter-sized piece of plasticard, drill a 3/8" hole in the middle and glue it in place. Is figuring out how to do that worth the price of a new resin FW turret (~$18 US + shipping from the UK at today's rates)? I'd certainly hope so! Heck, I'll be happy to do the work for you for less than that.

Is it annoying? Yeah. And I'm not saying that every player should have even basic converting skills (though I think it's a good idea), but even if they don't, they should have at least one person in their gaming group who does.

Luna, I've seen your conversions - you could fix this problem no sweat.

What´s that mg looking thingy just left of the crew head? It´s not a stubber and surely not a storm bolter. A new modeling option not listed in the codex?

I think i see only 1 head.

So if we are talking about the same head, then that thingy = the base for the HK missile to mount on.

Oh right, I forgot about that silly option. I liked HK missiles when they were a box.
But what do I know after all I went slighty converted Tamiya kits for my IG that way my tanks look the way I like them (that is less death traps more battlefield compact) not the way GW does.

There are 3. One of them is a Catachan head.

And the only thing missing from the kit are the hands that hold the Heavy Stubber/Storm Bolter.

Sigh. Point being, you shouldn't have to "fix this problem".............................
Hell, I've turned turtle shells into Chimeras and Hellhounds, a Stegadon into a Basilisk, etc etc. I did that because I wanted to build something different. But you shouldn't have to do that for a basic kit!

And I agree that you shouldn't have to do it for a basic kit, but FW kits are not basic kits. I mean, I think it's one thing to complain about how the new Bassie kit doesn't come with a hull heavy bolter anymore and now folks need to convert them, but once you get into FW kits, you're investing yourself in another level of the game entirely.

Okay - I mean, if I take a step back and look at the larger picture, I have to ask myself the question: Why does GW not include all its options in its kits? (And by extension, why does it not make it's new turret rings back compatible?) Yes, the simple answer is money. But GW's path to that money is more insidious than just simply 'BUY MOAR STUFF.' It's not just an investment of money. You can't just pop down to the FLGS and pick up a Manticore or Hydra. If you want one of those (particularly if you're wanting to be competitive), you have three choices: a) proxy it (which won't get you far outside of playing in someone's home), b) order it from FW, or c) convert it up yourself. If you're doing either b or c, then you're investing an additional level of commitment and money to the game that indicates that you're willing to invest even more time and money to the game. Is it smart from a business perspective? Yes. Is it smart from a customer relations perspective? Maybe or maybe not. GW's taking the gamble that if you've already invested this much time and money into the game that you're not going to leave it over a different turret ring or a missing heavy bolter. Does it suck for gamers that just want to put their kits together and play? Yes. But apparently, this is a business strategy that GW has decided they're willing to take.

I do understand the argument of "you shouldn't have to fix this problem", but I don't see this as a 'should they do it' or 'shouldn't they do it' question, because aside from organizing the gaming community to boycott GW over its business practices (as was recommended over the Blood Bowl fiasco a couple months ago and has about a snowball's chance in hell of working), there's really not much we can do about it. Consequently, I see this as a 'this is what they've done, so let's move on and now what do we do about it' question.

As I said, with the new kit coming out, it is no longer a necessity to buy those turrets from FW. Wait a month, and you can get the turret options from the Warstore's battlewagon bits.

Ironhide, there's no TL-HB or Autocannon in this kit, so other than converting them yourself, there is still a necessity to buy FW turrets to get those weapons.

Those options aren't codex legal, so the only necessity of buying those specific turrets is for FW books.
