Ok guys, with the new Killa Kans and Deff Dreads coming out, I had to try my hand at a Mek army. I like the idea of a mek army and have wanted to run one for a long time now..... The difference is that I might be able to afford it now. Because of this, there are no Mega Nobz in here. Ok,so here it is.

ohai there.
1. You only have two three troop choices. Weaksauce. In objective games, dreads (troop choices) can't hold an objective. 10 gretchin aren't scary at all, meaning in essence that you've got two troop choices...60 boys on foot that need to be killed to minimally force a tie. And one of them is going to have to cross the entire board (likely) to get an objective. This will not turn out well.
2. Your burnas shouldn't be on foot. They're a short range weapon - they belong in a battlewagon being delivered somewhere or doing drive by fry.
3. Your killa-kans have grotzookas. Very cool toys. However, without rokkits, your anti-tank is a one-trick pony. Two units of deffkoptas that can turbo-boost or outflank - get hopefully one transport each before getting vaporized. You aren't going to be rushing in behind them to support, so you've got an expensive point sink here.
4. Warbikes are one of the least effective and most costly units in the codex, and between this and your burnas, you've got a couple of undersized units asking to get wiped out....and still only two troop choices.
The best thing you have going for you is a good time for your opponent. Find yourself a theme. You said mechanized, but this isn't mechanized, its a cobbled list of random things from the codex. >< Not being harsh, just straight-forward.

I think this is the "standard" KanWall template: KFF Mek (or two) Lots of Lootas (15+5, 15+15... something like that) 3x30 shoota boyz Couple of Buzzsaw/Rokkit deff koptas (1 per FoC) 3x3 Killa Kans with rokkits or Grotzookas Add Deff Dreads to troops as points allow Here's an alternative, if you like Warbikers: http://www.yesthetruthhurts.com/2009/11/re-envisioning-orks-part-iii.html Summary is Wazdakka 3x10 Lootas 3x6 Warbikers 2x19 Grotz 2x2 Warbuggies /w rokkits 1x2 Deff Koptas w 1 buzzsaw, rokkits 2x3 Killa Kans 1x3 Kannons

My mek/dread shooty list runs something like this (right now, using meganobz as "kan proxies" while waiting for plastic kits):
1750 points
HQ
Big Mek w/ KFF
Big Mek w/ KFF
TROOPS
Deffdread w/ 3 CCW, Skorcha, Armor, Grots
Deffdread w/ 3 CCW, Skorcha, Armor, Grots
(2x) Shoota Boyz x 11, big shoota, nob w/ PK, BP; Trukk w/ ram, BP
(2x) Shoota Boyz x 12, big shoota, nob w/ PK, BP; Trukk w/ ram, BP
HEAVY
Killa Kans w/ Grotzookas x 3
Killa Kans w/ Grotzookas x 3
Killa Kans w/ Grotzookas x 3
FAST ATTACK
Warbuggies w/ TL Rokkits x 3
Warbuggies w/ TL Rokkits x 3
Warbuggies w/ TL Rokkits x 3
ELITE
None (*note, in 2500 point lists, I add 3x 15-man loota squads here, convert one kan unit to rokkits, toss a little gear on the meks, usually a burna)
Everything's mechanized and moves in a big column. Rokkit buggies (and lootas in larger games) pop transports, dreads, kans, and shoota boyz eat the goo that comes out. Anything that assaults me has to come through the kans/dreads. Meks ride in trukks in middle of the pack, overlapping their KFF, and 2 trukks often start in reserves for later objective holding since they have a fast transport.
Against Chimera/Rhino mech lists, the rokkits and grotzookas do a fair bit of damage. Anything that gets too close gets a fistful of Dreadnought CCW weapon. Landraiders are a perpetual ork issue, but I have enough rokkits and powerklaws/dreadnought CCW, as well as a massive horde footprint of klanking death that I can minimize their exposure. If you have trouble with armor, upgrade a kan unit or two to rokkits instead. Another option is to make two of the shoota trukks just shoota foot units, upgrading them to, I believe, 23 with a second big shoota for the same points. Your call, I just like having everything mechanized. And for sure, I like having mechanized reserves that can come in after a couple turns when a lot of the enemy anti-vehicle is destroyed, so they can race around with more impunity to contest/seize objectives.
It's not perfect, but I have a blast playing this list and many "all comer" type lists find it very annoying to play, especially as I start picking off any guns that hurt my kans or get hot with my KFF cover saves.
