Ok so I'm from South Africa (ignore the US flag on my profile, according to dakkadakka I'm an American) and I thought I'd be all ambassadorial and proper for a bit and answer any questions you lot might have about our sunny country. Mostly I would like to clear up common misconceptions about SA and so forth. But first, here's the most imporrtant question and its answer: Where can I play 40k during the World Cup? Answer: www.extremewargaming.co.za please!

Ok, I'll bite.

I lived with a South African for about six months in Epsom in 2002-03. He was constantly painting a dour picture of the cities (people lying dead in the streets etc).

He was a bit of windbag, so I tended to take this with a pinch of salt. It's not really that bad is it?

Like your Avatar btw. My favourite film of all time

At the current rate of exodus, will there be anyone left in South Africa in 10 years time, and if so will they all be Zimbabwean immigrants/refugees?

No that's not true, he just wanted to puff himslef up by making his environment look worse than it was. If it was that bad no one would live here

Yes I'm sure there will be lots of people left in SA 10 years from now. We have a good time here and doesn't afraid of anything. The Zim immigrants are a big problem, but not all of them turn criminal and many are integrating into society produtively. They are actually good workers because they are so desperate.
