I fixed your typo there.
When I first started painting minis I had an arm mounted magnifying glass with a light mounted in it. I thought it would be really cool for getting to see all the details up close, but it ended up being a niussance because it kept getting in the way and I had to keep repositioning to keep what I was trying to paint in focus and not clack the ends of my brushes against it. And I didn't do any better using it than not. But as some caveats:
1) I was only just learning how to paint.
2) I have good vision and am not used to using a glass of any kind to help me see.
3) I'm extremely lazy and get easily frustrated by the addition of a few simple steps to a task.
The good thing about those magnifying glasses is they're dirt cheap, or at least they were last time I priced them. I got mine for less than $20 I think. The more expensive ones have flouresent lights that encircle the glass, but I found that if you get the cheapo ones with hothothot incadesent bulbs then you can use them as an alternate heat source to make your green stuff cure faster. Or toast your breakfast. Or burn your house down.
YMMV
