Subject: Ork Looted Wagon and "as far as possible"

Ok, a looted wagon has the rule of rolling a 1 and moving directly forward as far as possible. I take that to mean AS FAR AS POSSIBLE. but the guys I play with want it to be 6 inches or flat out or some other rule about moving. The ork trukk has the rule like this 3d6 on a scatter dice as far as possible.
So if one rule specifies a distance as far as possible, I take it that the move directly forward as far as possible means exactly what it says.

A tank can move 12" or 13" with a lick of red paint.
That means the looted wagon will move as far as possible, 12" or 13" if nothing is obstructing it.
And if something is.
Ork faq
Q. If a Looted Wagon rolls a ‘1’ for “Don’t Press
Dat” what happens if the forced movement takes
them into friendly models, impassable terrain or
off the table?
A. The vehicle stops as soon as it comes into
contact with friendly models, impassable terrain
or the table’s edge.

You move it the maximum distance the Wagon is normally able to move (including 'Red Paint Job's extra inch).

Which is why some players that use the looted wagon, will put something infront of it to stop it from moving. A clever go around

And remember it is treated as moving at cruising speed which means no shooting.

Never played against one before, so just asking: Wouldn't that tank shock your own guys? Or is it assumed that they only have a lack of control of the vehicle so far as no one gets hurt...

this question is answered in the ork faq.
The vehicle stops as soon as it comes into contact with friendly units, impassible terrain or table edge..but still counts as moving for the purposes of shooting.

Yea as said the FAQ covers this exactly as you asked it lol.
Also, as many people will say on here, taking a looted wagon isnt a smart idea. They are pricey, and thin armor. So if your planning on doing a tourny or something similar in your gaming group, and you want your army to really matter probably wont take the looted wagon.
BUT if your just playing for fun or something similar, then go for it. They can be a fun unit to take. Not to mention when you get lucky with a boom gun hit, it can really hurt things.

My lord. Thank goodness for this. My brother has been trying to convince me that "as far as possible" meant all the way across the board! This should finally prove how ridiculous his thinking is!

I'd disagree with this. I use a looted wagon in every RTT list to give my Tank Bustas a ride. It takes an Auto Cannon or better to have a decent shot at taking one out and most opponents will use their Lascannons and Meltas to try to smoke my BW full of Boyz. Keeping it near my KFF MEK increases the survivability greatly. Granted it does get a little aggravating to roll a 1 when you want to shoot out of it but that can be remedied by disembarking the mob.
