I had question. Can the SM Drop Pod Shoot the first round of shooting after Deep Strike?

It depends on which Space Marines it is.

Normal Space Marines/Dark Angels/Space Wolves/Blood Angels cannot as it is not a Fast Vehicle and counts as moving Cruising Speed the turn it arrives.
Black Templar ones can because they have a special rule saying they can.

Mesopotamia. The Kingdom Where we Secretly Reign.

I think sometimes a confusion arises from the fact that the old Vanilla Marines codex had Drop Pods with the POTMS ability.

I do think its silly that DPs can't fire their weapons, but the passengers can.

not that that one Storm bolter is a big deal, but a DP with a Deathwind missile launcher is a big deal.

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

Gwar, might I ask where the rules that state it moves at 'cruising speed' are? I need to show them to someone that doesn't believe it.

OK. Out of not-so-idle curiosity. Does anyone have a collected list of the various discrepancies in gear, rules and units of the various ( loyalist ) Marines ( Vanilla/BT/SW/DA/BA )? I guess technically the Inquisition ( DH ) should be included also.

I'm guessing this also means that assaulting a drop pod that came in on the previous turn means one needs 6's to hit?

No because its imobilised so you auto hit it.

Eh, it's also an Immobilised vehicle. So, auto-hits.

No because its imobilised so you auto hit it.

The Assaulting Vehicles section (p63) has three lines:
- Attacking a vehicle that is immobilised or was stationary in its previous turn: Automatic hit
- Attacking a vehicle that moved at combat speed in its previous turn: 4+
- Attacking a vehicle that moved at cruising speed in its previous turn: 6

p95 says "Vehicles count as having moved at cruising speed." but the drop pod Immobile rule says "counts in all respects as a vehicle that has suffered an Immobilized damage result".

So now for shooting we count it as moving at cruising speed, but when it's assaulted it's counted as immobile. That's weird, it's counting as both

Yup.

If you take a close look at the table, you’ll note that “is immobilized” is in the present tense, while all the others are in the past tense. Immobilized = auto hit, regardless of distance moved in the previous turn.

Just think of it as needing both a 6+ to hit AND hitting automatically, so you still roll the dice, but you hit no matter what the result is anyway, making it a moot point.
