why does a chaos pred with no sponsons not become a razorback?

a pred with turret+sponsons uses all the space left for extra ammo, systems etc

but i can fit 4 lascannon SM in the same space and have room for another 6 SM worth of stuff

a rhino could have a HB armed marine fire out all game or i could have a razorback with TL HB and lose 4 SM?

oh and a havoc launcher takes up no room???!?

Again, it's just a game abstraction. You can't have 40k represent all real-life factors accurately without bogging the game down with rules and exceptions that don't enhance gameplay in any way. It's not a simulation.

A Predator has some of its space dedicated to armor as well. Further, the heavy weapons on vehicles are bigger and better than those used by infantry, just not by enough to really matter. The only difference in game is that the vehicle heavy weapons, as they are directly mounted on the vehicle, stabilized, etc. can move and fire, while the infantry ones cannot.

Bigger and better, but not actually bigger and better. i was thinking of +1 strength or +1 BS, like targeters in 2nd ed.

In fluff terms i guess the barrels last longer, has more ammo etc.
