All support for them have been withdrawn by GW and they are no longer official for the purposes of GW sanctioned events.

Sometimes I wish I could win the lottery, buy a majority share in GW and sack the idiot who made that decision.

A pity. I've always liked seeing ranks of pikemen and all the various Tilean armies made for a nice look to supplement the usual Empire/Brettonian uniforms.

It's sad really GW only got rid of them because they didn't like the idea of two armies on one side. They didn't seem to care that Dogs of War were still an army in the own right. Why not just change the rules to remove the chance to ally them. They were great if you wanted an army that could hace a very personal background. All they would have had to do is remove the dogs of war rule and remove the names from the named untits.

The best thing about the Dogs of War was the huge range of different troops available -my favourite model was the Paymaster

But Bretonnian players like me couldnt use mercenaries due to the dishonour fluff

There are still Dogs of War loyalists on the net (www.dogsofwaronline.com) and attempts are being made to create aa Army Book that would be legal in the Indy tournaments (like the Dwarfs of Chaos book).

Is there anywhere you can get the army book for it?

I have looked for people selling it but I can't find anyone.

There is no 6th Edition army book, only lists in the Warhammer Annuals (2002-2004) and pdfs that GW use to kindy supply on their web site.

There is a 5E Army Book, but that's missing a lot of newer stuff, along with being designed for 5E rather than 6E / 7E.

The 5th edition book was just charaters and Regiments of Renown only.

Pretty sure its legal to add Dogs of War to your army, most codexs say you can such as the High Elf Codex. A full dogs of war only army is not legal though.

True, but there's no mention of them in any of the newer Army Books, such as Lizardmen, Skaven, and Beastmen. I'd put money that they won't be mentioned in 8th ed. Fantasy Battles, either. I probably wouldn't play against someone who had a Dogs of War army.

@ Callum, A lot of the older army books still mention DoW, but at the moment the only recognised DoW unit is the giant. All the other DoW units no longer have any points cost easily available, nor do they have rules available via GW.

@ Asrodrig, why not?, a set of rules six years old, no unique magic items, and overcosted units.

Cheers

I'd go ahead and play against them. Depending on how I felt and if there were any stakes involved (campaign standing and so forth), I might even pull out one of my fluff lists to play against him to give him a fighting chance.

Really? My Warhammer Chronicles list says otherwise.

There's no need to mention them, as the DoW "For Hire" rules specify which armies can take DoW units, and of so, how they may be taken.

OTOH, Dark Eldar are mentioned in 40k6...

Because you can't beat a really old, underpowered, obsolete, out-of-date army?
