Hey guys, I'm just going to come out and say this now, I'm a noob at creating army lists. My theory for this ork army is going to be a footslogging killa kan list.

I'm not sure exactly what upgrades and weapons are best for killa kans, deff dreds, and big meks so I'm going to need suggestions there. I do know that a big mek can allow a deff dred to be taken as a troops choice though. My question is can 2 big meks allow for 2 deff dreds as troop choices? Anyway, here's my initial list:

+Burna

Big Mek (90 pts)

Yes, you can take 1 Dread as a Troops unit for each Big Mek, so you can take two if you have two Meks. However, they still are not scoring.

For a self-described noob, this is a pretty tight list. There are a couple of problems, though.

First, Burna Boyz can't take a painboy. I wish! Your Burna squads are only 150 points actually, as Burnas are 15 points each.

Second, I would personally run 2x30 Boyz instead of 2x20. Your call, of course, but I find 30-strong mobs to be must more resilient and killy overall. This would mean dropping 3 boyz, since you're running 21-model units, but your units will be harder to break overall.

Third, giving your Deff Dread a single Big Shoota is a bad idea; he's BS2, he won't hit anything. Give him a 3rd CCW instead. My favorite build is 4xDCCW, grot riggers, extra armour; for 120 points you get a surprisingly resilient walker with 6 S10 attacks on the charge. However, a Skorcha is a valid option as well.

So, at the moment you have 100 points to play with. If you combine into 30-strong foot mobs, you'll have 115 (taking off 3 for the fact that you're slightly over-cost). Swapping out your Dread's Big Shoota for a CCW costs you 10, leaving 105. You could use that for several things.

-A squad of 3 Warbuggies with TL rokkits, giving you some nice ranged anti-vehicle capacity.

-Another Deff Dread with an extra DCCW and skorcha.

-A Battlewagon for one of your Meks to roll in, along with one of the burna squads.

Wow wow, your comment was VERY helpful! I'll edit my list. Which would be more effective, another dread or a battlewagon?

Well, since this is a footslogging list, the Battlewagon kind of breaks the theme. Also, you wouldn't have many points with which to upgrade it. I'd say the Dread. I'm currently trying out a full-blown Dread Bash list (5 Deff Dreads), and they're not only quite effective but loads of fun.

Ok, I updated my list. I added 3 deffkoptas to it for a little added speed. I'm not sure if the rokkit luanchas are a good choice though.

The Rokkit Launchas are a great idea, but you should split them up into squads of 1. Don't forget to scout and turbo boost them at the beginning. Also, play with maybe dropping one and something else to put buzzsaws on your Koptas.

I run a similiar list and have been told to toss rokkits on those Kans for AT (Their BS 3!!!) and then, of course, crush any AV14s with your STR 10 rear striking CC atks with them. But, your call!

yeah, I'm going to buy 3 boxes of the new kans when they come out, and I'm magnetizing them so that anything is possible.

On second thought, it seems like the burnas are going to be a bit vunerable. Maybe dropping them and adding some trukks and/or battlewagon with nob squad. Or maybe more boyz instead?

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

Greetings.

1. You have two scoring units. Since 66% of all pickup games, and most tournament/GT games are objective based, you've put yourself at a serious disadvantage. Your opponents need to kill TWO units in your army to make sure you cannot win most games. A couple of flamer templates, and you're done.

2. 5th edition has seen mechanized lists bloom. You have *NO* anti-tank worth mentioning. Kans don't have rokkits, your three single deffkoptas don't have buzzsaws to pack a punch to anything, and ANY player with even a partly mechanized list is going to destroy you from range while you sit there and take it without a choice. You need Lootas, or fast moving powerklaws, or tank-bustas, or rokkits on your kans.

You're in really bad shape just based on those two things.

Sweet, so lootas would be preferable to burnas? I checked the rules for a deffkopta w/ buzzsaw, and it's very nice, I'll have to add those in.

Inside a pretty, pretty pain cave... won't you come inside?

Lookin' pretty good. If you scrapped one 70-pt deffkopta, you could add a dirt cheap gretchin mob as a third scoring unit (you can get 19 + slaver for 67 points). This unit starts in reserves, comes in turn 3 or 4, and races for an objective that you've put close to your deployment zone, preferably in cover. They camp there and go to ground. It's hard to wipe out a 20 man unit, even grots, if they have a 3+ cover save (area terrain + going to ground). Just a thought to help with the missions. Otherwise, if you can scrap together the points, you might consider converting one more kan unit to rokkits. Your shootas, big shootas, and dreads will handle infantry. Converting one dread to have a skorcha and losing one grot oiler frees up the points. Just a thought.

Enjoy!
