What the title says. I wish we had a Painting and Modeling comp on Dakka, I know we have the painting challenge on occasions but it woul be nice to have a mini competion to get everyone motivated every month. I written a thread with some rules for the comp, which are just my ideas, in the Nuts and Bolts fourm. If you want to pledge your support and then it might get started . My local GW has started one, partially as a way to leech extra $$$ out of the decent painters in the area. Basically everyone paints the same model in a given month. The manager chose this months figure, the new beatsman shaman character. The winner of each months' contest picks the next months model. And although it mostly seems like additional income for the store, I can see the point in about ten of us painting the same thing and then comparing, as well as the competition improving our skills. If there were a dakka equivalent, I'd probably enter it too.

I lack both the time and funds to enter such a competition, but it would be nice to see, yes. Would you go for a specific model, or themes (couldn't quite tell from your link). Leaving to themes such as the classic "HQ entry", or "Nitty Gritty Armour" as we saw recently would work better IMO.

CadianXV I would go for themes yes. Oh and buy the way the themes will correspond with army building so funds shouldn't be a problem. Great news Ktulhut! Nice to know someone is interested in this.

nope. I enter something locally on occasion, but I don't go for "paint this" and I'm not interested in attempting to be validated by this site.

I actually PM'd some of the mods a few weeks back with an idea almost exactly like this. I, for one, would love something like this. We have a similiar thing going on another gaming site and it has proven to be extremely popular.
