Can anyone see any value for Necron players facing Nids to throw Pariahs in the mix. Traditionally Pariahs get the big thumbs down, but I was curious if the shift in the Nid codex lends itself to any pro-Pariah propaganda?

Not really. All Tyranids within Synapse are Fearless, although Pariahs are themselves Fearess and might do something interesting to weaken Tyranid psychic powers, particularly stuff like Zoanthropes and Tervigons. Their Gauss Blasters might be useful in shooting up the horde as well.

I agree with Nurglitch on this one, there is no MAJOR benefit, you can weaken nid psychic power, but pariahs don't add to the phase out count and are expensive

They would rip through zoanthropes, doom of malantai etc in close combat and could mostly kill a big bug if they manage to charge and their shooting isn't to bad.

And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.

Pariahs don't gain any huge benefit against Tyranids. They will continue to do what they have always done which is be overcosted for what they can do.

I kind of disagree, a pariah is 8 points more that an immortal and you get 1 more strength and the warscythe with a inbuilt guass blaster (assault 2 mind you) that in assault disallows not just armor saves but invulnerable as well. Yes wbb is out of the picture but a squad of pariahs marching inside the usual warrior phalanx add a considerable amount of firepower as well as a the leadership reduction bubble meaning they are a countercharge unit par excellence.

Trygon hits gets tied up by warriors and polished off by pariahs, they blast a hole in the gaunt screen and carve up the tervigon I think replacing immortals with pariahs might not be bad idea especially considering what a suprise it will be to your opponent to see them.

Poison on many of the small bugs and S5-9 on the big bugs makes their toughness a moot point.

Not having WBB is a monstrous disadvantage versus Nid shooting (relative to the rest of the Necron dex that does have WBB), which tends to be high volume of fire/high AP.

The entire army being very light on Invuln saves and 6+ armor on little bugs makes their special weapons more or less worthless as well.

I think their perfect for killing SWARM nids... shoot ur gauss and then smack them up and disrupt some zoanthropes while ur at it.

I feel like most of the new horde units end up with Toxin Sacs, Pariahs die before they even get to assault to those units, and probably die anyway to sheer volume. I do like the idea of them disrupting podding psychers, but the points have to be pretty high to put any in.

Next game is 1500 and I am going to field a mech tau list with 2 or 3 Kroot swarms, cheap as possible with some stealth suits to harass the flanks. Pretty sure he expects me to bring Monoliths and a God so I'll be bringing something a little more swarmy.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

For the same price as a SM terminator what do you get?

3+ save=ok

A CCW that ignores all saves=Good

No WBB=bad

only 1 attack(what idiot designed this?) bad

Souless. only good in certain situations.

Overall they are bad. and against nids they will go last unless they get the charge on a carnifex and even then they won't get enough attacks to kill enought to pay for themselves

Actually, once you get rid of synapse Pariahs could be a big help in making those bugs fail their LD tests! Instinctive Behavior for the win.
