Hello Dakka!

I'm just thinking about the nobz I have lying around here...and before I go and paint/convert them, I'd like to hear your idea abour how viable this squad would be.

First try:

5 nobz
stikkbombz for ev'rywun
Nob 1: 'eavy armor, big choppa
Nob 2: 'eavy armor, big choppa, ammo runt
Nob 3: 'eavy armor
Nob 4: 'eavy armor, bosspole
Nob 5: 'eavy armor, waaaghbanna

Comes out to 163 points. Yeah, I'm going for the slightly cheesy way of planning to abuse wound allocation, I know.

So, how would you improve this squad further? Before you start: I know there are no powerklaws in this, but they will most probably be accompanied by a waaaghboss with a nice S10 power klaw and attack squig. And they're supposed to ride a vehicle, probably a red paint job pikk-up for starters.

Comments on those gits?

Cheers,
Witzkatz

What you have there is an okay start, but I'd also consider:
-Getting a painboy. Feel No Paint and Cybork are godsends.
-Beefing the unit up to 10. This ise easy to do with a couple of powerklaws and some kombiweapons.

If nothing else, get the painboy. He drastically improves the unit. I'd also think another powerklaw would be a good idea. But like I said, good enough start, I suppose.

First, STIKKBOMBS SUCK, sorry man you can use those 5 points elsewhere. Second, a nob squad is supposed to have PKs because Nobs and warbosses are the only things that can carry PKs really (unless you count deffkoptas which still dont get that punch that a PK should give). 1 of the guys should be a Painboy, because for just 30 points you get FNP and the ability to switch in those 'eavy armors for cyborks which are clearly better if you think about it. Really, there are a lot of ap 4 weapons out there. Also, ammo runts = fail and uselessness, srsly, will you reroll slugga shots?! I don't think that you'll ever even shoot your slugga. Also bear in mind that Nobz should be transported in a BW in groups of 10 usually (Thats how I use them) so they are not the least costly unit in the codex, 10 Nobz + BW = easily 500 pts. So heres what I propose

cyborks all 'round
1. Painboy
2. Big Choppa, Bosspole
3. PK, Kombi-Skorcha
4. Big Choppa, Waaagh! Banner
5. Big Choppa, Kombi-Skorcha

Orks - REPAINTED into Ice world orks DA BLOO TIDE WAAAAGH! - around 2k pts.

CSM - Nurgle - - around 700 pts.

Thanks for your quick replies!

A painboy would definitely be a cool idea...I need to see if I may be able to convert some boy into a painboy. I definitely see the advantages of FNP in this mob.

@Condai about stikkbombz: I think for +1pts per nob they are rather cheap and I know that my opponents, fielding mostly shooty armies, will hug cover like there's no tomorrow and I'd really like to hit first in those occasions, just to minimize chances of a nob dieing before he gets to chop some 'umies up.

About numbers: Aye, ten nobz would be cool, but for the moment I'm trying to work with what I have right here on my table. If they work well (in general), I might upgrade them with five other nobz in the future.

If I can get my hands on some plasticard, I might try to convert a choppy nob into a klawy nob, another PK in there certainly might be useful.

Again, thanks for your input.
