Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

Folks:

If a defiler moves 6" then runs 3" then assaults 4" for a total of 13" distance covered in a turn...

Does that count as moving 13" ?

My boarding planks can't be used against a vehicle that has moved more than 12" in a turn.

Yes, it does.

Up in your base, killin' all your doods.

It seems like it, but obviously walkers are going to cause problems with the boardin plank, rules wise.

I'd contest that only the actions done in the movement phase count as actual movement for that.

I see no reason not to count all of the vehicle's movement.

That's odd. In my copy of the Ork codex, there's no time qualifier on the "has moved more than 12"" part of that rule.

So, one potential interpretation is that a vehicle which has moved more than 12" since the start of the game is immune to the boarding plank. Another possibility is that the 12" is for the previous turn. Another possibility is that the 12" is for any particular phase.

Requiring the 12" to be done in one turn seems the most reasonable to me because then it would treat last minute star engine triggering and fast vehicles equivalently. The alternative is to advocate for the "more than 12" since the start of the game" alternative.

I could go for that when checking walkers just to avoid any arguments about the walker hitting back or not. ;-)

I actually just posted that over in the 'Fun list of RAW fun' thread.

Without a time limit being specified, you would have to count all of the vehicle's movement. But I think it's a much more reasonable idea to just count the movement for the past turn to that point.

It never specifies 'in the movement phase' so that would seem to be a perfectly valid example of movement.

Consolidation would count as well.....

Yup. Hadn't thought of it before, but it should count. Neat to have a walker with Fleet!
