Rolling to hit against vehicles:
If I read the rules right, you need to roll a 6+ to hit a vehicle that was immobilized during your shooting phase because p63 tells you the speed is determined by what happened the previous turn.
Is that right? Shoot a vehicle, immobilize it, assault it...still need 6+?
And if not...what if you immobilize a vehicle at I4, and then I1 swings. Does it auto-hit?

Um... no.
Pg 63: Attacking a vehicle that is immobilized or was stationary on it's previous turn = Automatic Hit
If you immobilize the vehicle during the shooting phase and then assault it, the vehicle is now immobilized.
Since assaults are carried out in initiative order, then your second premise is correct. I4 immobilizes vehicle so I1 hits automatically.

My understanding has been that as soon as the vehicle becomes immobilized, all further attacks auto-hit.

Except that p.63 .....
Oh, I totally read that wrong. =)
*is* immobilized, not *was* immobilized. Thanks!

Granted, your original interpretation wasn't wrong just not completely right. The automatic hits don't override needing a 6 to hit. So, technically, you would roll your attacks, pull out all the 6's, and the rest hit automatically. Of course, it's just quicker/easier to say that they all automatically hit
EDIT: Can't spell

Actually one of my favorite clerifications. Makes it that much more fun to immobilize a vehicle then pound the snot out of it with a couple power weapons, just to send the point home for the other guy
